Hello! 👋 This post is for those who are new to our page and/or keen to learn more about what we do here at Chatsworth House—which we like to think of as more than just a farming property.

Set across 3,000 hectares of beautiful Western Victorian landscape, Chatsworth House is a regenerative-inspired farm and event venue where people, plants, and animals can thrive together. Everything we do is guided by our ethos: honour the past, nurture the present, and invest in a more sustainable future.

At the heart of it all is us—Sarah and Tom Whinney—and our three gorgeous children.

I (Sarah) bring a deep love of agriculture and a natural flair for bringing people together, driven by community, care, and curiosity. Tom complements this with a practical mindset and a real passion for land stewardship. His dedication to livestock, sustainability, and mentoring the next generation of farmers makes him both a leader and a listener—someone who truly lives what he teaches.

Our journey began at university and evolved through years of conventional farming in our early days of marriage. Over time, a growing curiosity around soil health—alongside a personal health journey—led us to question how we were farming and explore new approaches. This ultimately guided us toward regenerative agriculture and, in 2020, into a new chapter here at Chatsworth House—one grounded in restoration, integrity, and a commitment to leaving the world better than we found it.

Just a little snippet of the Grounded Festival that we had the absolute privilege of attending last week!

It was very special to be able to spend two days on the Stewart’s family farm and we loved listening to all the inspiring speakers, having great conversations and eating delicious local food!!

It was also really nice to catch up with both old and new friends alike - what a wonderful community!!

Throwing it back to our 2023 Chatsworth House Field Day as we look ahead to 2026! 🌿

From packed paddock walks to thought-provoking discussions, 2023 brought together farmers and industry leaders for a day of genuine connection, learning, and shared ideas.

It was all about challenging thinking, exploring what’s possible, and having real conversations about the future of farming — right here on farm.

We can’t wait to bring that same energy (and more) back in October 2026.

We’re excited to build on the momentum of our 2023 Field Day with our 2026 theme!

“Bringing Together Natural Capital and Farm Business.”

Over two days at Chatsworth House, we’ll explore how natural capital and profitable farm systems can work hand-in-hand — moving beyond theory into practical, real-world application.

From big-picture thinking through to paddock-level practice, the program brings together leading farmers, advisors, financiers and supply chain voices to tackle:

• Soil health, carbon and biodiversity
• Productivity and profitability in practice
• Natural capital markets and emerging finance opportunities
• The role of supply chains in shaping the future of agriculture

Expect a mix of keynote speakers, panels, on-farm insights and field walks — all grounded in the realities of modern farming.
