Shearing season’s just around the corner, so now’s the time perfect time to get your alpacas booked in!

We’re a hardworking team that takes pride in doing the job properly. We come out with experienced rousties, keeping things running smoothly and making shearing as stress-free as possible for both you and your alpacas.

While we’re there, we can also take care of:

We are looking for 1-2 enthusiastic, reliable, punctual and available hard workers.

Position: Roustie

Job description: We are an alpaca shearing buisness who travel Victoria. Your tasks will include helping catch and load animals onto the shearing table, administering injections, cutting toenails, drenching, fleece collection, sweeping, loading and unloading gear in trailer, take pride in your work and performing other general tasks as needed.

No experience needed on job training provided

Must be confident around animals and getting dirty

Monday-Friday hours may differ each week, must be happy to work the occasional weekend (weather dependent, October-March)

We are looking for an incredibly reliable person that we know will show up and do the job.

•Must be fit as there is some heavy lifting involved
•Have to be able to work in a team environment
•Must have license and reliable transport
•Must have initiative and be able to work independently
•Must be able to take feedback and adapt to the jobs requirements

Home base is Willow Grove and travelling from there

We will be starting our first winter injections run in 2 weeks!! Please get in contact with us if you’re not already on our list for this!!

For this service we give them all of the injections they need through the year as well as a TNN mineral drench (this has all the goodness in it to keep them happy and healthy) toenails and an all over health check. Worming if necessary as well but we still recommend to get a f***l test done before we come out.

It is vital to an alpacas health to get their injections during the winter to help with the prevention of rickets and other disease they can get. Rickets is a very painful bone disease so it is better to prevent then to deal with the consequences down the track

That’s a wrap!!
What a season we’ve had, travelled just about every part of the state and even into NSW this year. We couldn’t do this without the support of our amazing clients new and old. So lovely to see all of our clients and their animals and to see some amazing parts of the state.

Of course none of this would be doable without all of the helpers we have had. Tylor, Nathan, Tilley, Morgan, Annie, Jack, Bayden, Charli, Tahniesha, Holly and of course Louise the little big boss. I appreciate you all more than anything for helping me get through the season.

Now for some rest and recovery before we dive into winter injections starting April

Due to the extreme heat over the next few days and caring for our shearing team and alpacas we will be postponing shearing for Thursday and Friday. As long as alpacas have shade and water they will be ok but putting them in yards and shearing in this heat is not ok. Most people understand but to the ones getting upset I care about people and alpacas ❤️

It's very hard to make the time to post so while Mikhaika does some early morning grinding I can catch up. We have been shearing all over Victoria in the last month from snow in Omeo to heat in central Victoria. Some of the places we've been is Daylesford, Smeaton, Castlemaine, Bendigo, Tatura, Rochester, Tatong, Ballarat, Winchelsea, Koroit, Camperdown, Daylesford, Heathcote many more between we've done animals in terrible condition with many years of fleece. We've been snowed on, rained on and burnt to a crisp. It's lovely when clients bring us cold water and icypoles and a little snack here and there. Some people supply us shade even lights when the day hasn't gone as planned and we arrive at 8.00 pm to shear the last 2. Most people are very good. The team appreciate your kindness.
Don't forget the shearers job doesn't Finnish at the end of shearing. There is grinding, cleaning and servicing hand pieces to be done. Driving to the next town to start it all again the next day. Dont forget the paperwork bookings and chasing payments. Be patient. We are getting around everyone on our list and lots of new clients too. November was the month from hell with rain, rain and rain.
