Domaine Naturaliste

Domaine Naturaliste After twenty years of applying his passion and expertise to countless vintages for local producers, winemaker Bruce Dukes has launched Domaine Naturaliste.

“The sheer quality of the wines he makes is equalled only by his consistency.” James Halliday

In 2014 renowned winemaker Bruce Dukes launched Domaine Naturaliste – his own range of wines, named for the southwest region where he has honed his craft. The Domaine Naturaliste label creates space for Dukes to refine his skill in balancing all the variables essential to producing great wine. Here, Duke

s is demonstrating his mastery of the classic Margaret River varietals to fully express their individual and collective characteristics. He is applying decades of locally and internationally gained knowledge about terroir, fruit selection, palate and aroma to produce balanced, complex and utterly delicious wine. Bruce was awarded “Best WA Winemaker 2011″ by Wines of Western Australia.

Another Gold for Morus 2023!
Our 2023 Morus Cabernet Sauvignon has picked up a second Gold medal, this time at the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC).
Following its Gold at Decanter, it’s wonderful to see this wine continuing to receive recognition on the international stage.

“A rich, ripe perfumed red peppers and floral notes lead into a complex, layered palate where bold black fruits and vibrant peppers meld seamlessly with well-integrated oak. The wine’s sappy grip and intriguing depth carry through to a firm, enduring finish”. IWSC

A quiet winter morning among the Cabernet Sauvignon Roche Clone vines.

With the leaves fallen and the rows laid bare, the vineyard takes on a beautiful simplicity — a time of rest, renewal and preparation for the season ahead.

There’s something special about seeing these vines in winter, knowing the work happening beneath the surface will shape the vintage to come.

You’ll often find Bruce out in the vineyard at all times of the year—sometimes even with a favourite wine in hand.

The 2022 Le Naturaliste Cabernet Franc has just been released at the cellar door, and it’s definitely a favourite of both Bruce and the team.

Expect subtle threads of violets, cherry blossom and fresh juniper berries, woven through an ample tapestry of black plum, cacao nib and ironstone.

Vineyard Manager Tim Byrne (aka Burning Man) in action. Our incredible crew work through extreme conditions each year to hand-prune every vine before spring.

This winter has been unusually dry so far, with cold nights, icy mornings and sun-drenched afternoons. With the wetter weather finally rolling through and the pruning well under way, the evenings call for hearty red wines by the fireplace…

Winter is a busy time in the vineyard, with pruning well underway and preparations for the growing season in full swing. Cabernet is pruned, Chardonnay follows late August, and the vineyard team is busy getting everything ready for spring.

With budburst just around the corner, we’re looking forward to the start of another growing season at Domaine Naturaliste.

The famous Gin Gin clone is at the heart of many of Margaret River's finest Chardonnays, including ours. Renowned for producing small, loosely packed bunches, it delivers incredible concentration, bright natural acidity, and complex flavours of citrus, white peach, and nectarine. While it's a challenging grape to grow, the rewards in the glass are unmistakable—elegant, textured, and unmistakably Margaret River.
