Last week all our pregnant heifers had their precalving preparation through the yards which involved vaccinations, new tags and most importantly independent structual and phenotype assessment’s.

Anything substandard joins the recipient herd and will have a future as a surrogate mother.

The girls took some force from the dogs while in transit through an oversown cereal/brassica crop as all they wanted to do was eat and fill their big bellys! Amazing what can be achieved when mother nature is on your side.

PS No way will these heifers stay on this quality feed, as their babies may grow too big in the last trimester and cause calving issues. They can return to the good feed once they have all got their calves on the ground!

It all been happening this autumn with a great autumn break albeit stock water is still tight tight after the 2024/25 drought. Livestock markets are strong and a large grain inventory on hand from what ended up been a big harvest so hopefully with world events grain markets rise.
