Pansy 'Bolero Mix' with annual phlox 'Sugar Stars'

Pansies and phlox make a very cute duo. Just add sweet peas and stocks and you've got the perfect annual springtime scented posy.

These two varieties are a bit purple for my taste but they definitely make a statement! What do you think, do you love purple flowers?

Cobaea scandens 'Violette' 💜 Cathedral Bells, Cup & Saucer Vine

The pendulous, colour changing bells start out pale green, then morph to a pale smoked lilac, ending as a rich deep violet. Can be cut shorter for bud vases and event bouquets, or longer on the vine. A lovely and underutilised choice for events. And if the violet is a little too bold, yes it does come in white.

While Cobaea is ever so pretty, it's not one to grow in warmer or frost free climates. It can be extremely vigorous, and does well being kept in check every year with a good frost, or treated as an annual and ripped out entirely each year.

🌸My emotional support flowers🌸

These sweet little baby pink and pastel toned zinnias have been with me from the very start of Three Dogs Flower Farm. First grown here from seed saved by my flower friend who had saved seed gifted from another flower friend, who had imported the seed many many years prior from Floret. These are the babies of one of first zinnias, Little Flower Girl.

They're the most versatile little zinnia ever in bouquets, blending in with absolutely everything! So generous with seeds, I don't even need to purposefully sow them anymore. They're just there, in the soil seed bank, waiting to pop up in late spring and summer.

Do you have a particular flower that's been with you since the very start of your flower farming or gardening adventures?

2026 sweet pea seed variety chat on this windy Saturday morning.

I just had a lengthy live blab about some of the sweet pea varieties growing here this year, and the wonderful seed growers we're lucky to have here in Australia.

Grab a cuppa, have a watch, and please, if you're new to sweet peas, promise to plant at least one packet to make spring-yous heart sing 💕

I clipped the chat to 20 mins for your convenience 'cos this girl can waffle.

Now, off you trot to pick up a packet of sweet pea seeds!

Hi! I’m Mary, a young pup full of love and curiosity. I adore playing games and learning new tricks, and I’m always eager to show off my friendly nature. I love sniffing out new adventures and sharing joyful moments with the people around me.

As I’m still young, I’ll need ongoing training and guidance to help me grow into the best companion I can be. I’m also working on building my confidence, so I’ll need a patient home that can support me and help me feel safe. I have mild separation anxiety, so I’ll do best with someone who can spend plenty of time with me and help me gradually learn that being alone is okay.

I’ll need to meet any other dogs in the home to make sure we’re a good match, and I’m best suited to a home with children over 6 years old who understand how to interact gently with me.

Have you received a bouquet of locally grown flowers with a particularly beautiful zinnia that you wish you could grow yourself?

Before tossing the spent flowers into the compost, have a rummage for green seed! While fully field-ripened seed is always best, generous beautiful zinnias will still give you viable seed even when green, so long as they've been pollinated. Here's what to do:

🌸 Give the lower petals a gentle tug to see if there's a viable seed attached. It should feel firm and weighty, not paper thin and bendy.
🌸 Separate the petal from the seed, and leave the seeds to air dry for a week or so.
🌸 Store your dried seeds in a labelled jar or paper bag, ready to sow next spring!

Zinnias are one of those cut flowers that perform best when harvested riper. That means hidden seed presents for those that go searching
