Nothing beats new experiences.

The Furst Creations crew recently had the opportunity to work alongside the team from Fixed Plant Maintenance Solutions during the latest shutdown at Olympic Dam.

One of the major jobs was replacing the intake bearing on the regrind mill. This wasn’t your average bearing, with an OD of around 1800mm, an ID of 1150mm and weighing approximately 5.5 tonnes. From removing the old bearing through to cleaning and refitting the new one, it was a big job that required plenty of teamwork, precision, and hard work from everyone involved.

Another job completed during the shutdown was replacing the trommel on the outtake end of the regrind mill. This required fitting work, do***ng, rigging, and ensuring all permits were in place to get the job done safely and efficiently.
