Building a good commercial crossbreeding enterprise using Square Meaters bulls will produce an animal that is a very saleable product.

How to develop Rib Fillet, what to look for in your cows.

There was a question raised about Rib fillet volume at the AGM. Golden Pastoral only use and keep bulls whos DAM is exceptional in this cut. Good rib good loin good rump. The cows that have these traits could be said to be too masculine in the show ring. The best way to identify these traits is broad protruding blade bones at the top of the shoulders.

Earlier this year SMCAA youth member Demi Riordan successfully exhibited Kilayr Velvet Rose at Wagin Woolarama winning Champion Speciality Breed following up her Champion ribbon at Harvey 2025 as a young heifer.

We are fortunate to have a young and keen youth member taking our young stock to the occassional show.
