Well, this week the team made the trip to Casino Beef Week, where we exhibited two pure home-bred steers.

To say we are wrapped with the feedback from fellow led steer exhibitors is an understatement. Both steers competed in the Led Steer Over 551kg class, which had a strong lineup of 26 steers.

While we just missed out on a ribbon in the hoof judging, our steers certainly came through where it counts — on the hook! We were thrilled to place 4th and 5th in the Carcass Competition, a result we are extremely proud of.

At Provenance Limousins, we strive to breed cattle with strong carcase traits, and it is rewarding to see that work recognised in such a competitive field.

Both steers were sired by Flemington Ready Or Not R21 and prepared on Kewpie Stockfeeds Pty Ltd

Congratulations to all exhibitors and organisers for another successful Casino Beef Week. We are already looking forward to next year.

Well we have been quite on the social media front lately. We are having a quiet year of showing this year and preparing for a big show season for 2027.

But we ventured out to our local show on the weekend at Kingaroy. We took a small team of studs and sample of our steers. All went very well and some ribbons were received.

Not often do we get the chance to sneak away for a bit of a holiday, but when we do, there is usually a good reason. This time, it was a 2,600 km round trip down near the Snowy Mountains to visit our good friends at Jackpot Angus and Flemington Limousin & Angus for their annual bull sale.

Along the way we saw some very dry country and some very green country. It is always great to get away and inspect female stud herds, especially when you are in the market for new stud sires.

Least to say, I think we found our new stud sires today at Flemington. Bulls that will breed on and are backed by cow families that not only win the broad ribbons, but also last in any herd.

We were lucky enough to secure two sires that we believe tick a lot of boxes in the Limousin game:

• Flemington Vertigo V129
• Flemington Vivid V138

We look forward to these bulls making their way up to Queensland for spring joining.

Congratulations as well to the Flemington crew on a healthy sale average in what are certainly trying times across the current beef industry.

The 2026 Show Season has officially kicked off for Team Provenance!

This year, we’ve taken a small step back from the Stud Cattle Section to highlight the commercial relevance of Limousin cattle by exhibiting in the Prime Section.

We dipped our toe in the water at the Bell Show with a team of grain-fed steers and replacement heifers — and we were thrilled with the results in what were very strong classes of cattle.

🔹 3rd & 4th – Grain Fed Steer 500kg and over (18 head in the class)
🔹 3rd – Single Grass Fed Heifer over 450kg
🔹 2nd – Pen of 3 Replacement Heifers over 450kg (10 pens in the class)

For our first Prime Show outing, it was a very rewarding day and a great step forward in showcasing the commercial strength and performance of our cattle. We’re looking forward to many more throughout the season.

To top off the day, it was especially pleasing to hear that a Provenance-bred steer was awarded Grand Champion Led Steer at the Inverell Show.
This steer was purchased as a calf in February 2025 — congratulations to the owners on an outstanding achievement!

A strong start and plenty to be excited about for the season ahead. 👏🐂

🐮 WELL, THE WAIT IS OVER! 🐮

We’re thrilled to announce that we have been invited to be part of The Caboolture Mazda Beef Grand Prix

We’ve selected two outstanding young calves that we’re incredibly proud of — they’re already showing great potential and are only going to get better with age.

Both calves are still on cows and will be offered to stay on their cows until May 2026, during which they’ll be fed on creep feeders and silage.

We are also offering negotiation to have these calves broken in and shown through to Ekka 2026, ensuring they reach their full potential in both preparation and presentation.
