I opened up a bit of ground for next year's swede crop today. Turf ripped up ok but very hard and dry underneath. Hopefully we get some rain between now and Xmas....

I planted an early patch of Pink eyes on Friday, it was a beautiful day for it. Hopefully the weather will be kind to them 🤞

Have you been wondering how to deal with a swede with double tap roots? Probably not🤣. Anyhow easy, split it nose to tail (works the same with a single tap root) and process as per photo's. If you're not 100% sold on the flavour of mashed swede try it shandied with some carrot. Cheers

Digging a few King Edwards today. Dug some Nicola's yesterday. Not many left in the ground now 🫡

Xmas ham bone soup. I froze the bone from Xmas ham and now it will make the core of a hearty soup. Slow cooked in couple of litres of water and seasoning for 8 hours. Potato, carrot and swede shredded and added to slow cooker. Meat removed from ham bone and back in slow cooker. Now cook the veggies for a couple of hours and done. That's cheap eating right there 😉
