Not the easiest restaurant to get to by public transport, but Akti in Woolloomooloo is well worth the trip for authentic Greek flavours and waterfront views.

We visited for their 50% off three-course menu and ended up adding a few à la carte dishes because there were too many tempting options.

Here’s everything we tried:
• Oysters with ouzo mignonette
• Saganaki with truffle – an absolute must order. It was incredibly cheesy and creamy, with the truffle taking it to the next level. Easily one of the standout dishes of the night.
• Melitzanosalata – smoked eggplant and garlic dip served with homemade pita bread
• Tonos – beautifully presented tuna with cucumber
• Keftedes – beef meatballs with tomato and yoghurt, which paired perfectly with the pita
• Slow-cooked pork collar – incredibly tender with a generous serving size
• Market fish of the day – barramundi
• Pickled savoy cabbage
• Fried potatoes
• Baklava for dessert

The quality of the food, generous portions and beautiful wharf setting made for a great dinner. If you’re after authentic Greek food with a waterfront setting, Akti is definitely worth adding to your list.

Who knew you could find an indoor surf club in the middle of Sydney Olympic Park? 🌊

We spent the afternoon at Rafi and honestly, it felt like a little escape from the city. Great food, waterfront views, and front row seats to watch surfers catching waves indoors.

Our favourites from the menu:
✨ Sourdough wholemeal pita
🍯 Baked tomino with spiced honey & thyme
🍆 Crispy eggplant with spices, honey & herbs
🦪 Grilled scallop with umami butter, sweet corn & lime
🐙 Grilled octopus with butter beans, coriander & habanero
🥩 Wagyu rump MB+6 with chimichurri

If you’re looking for a spot that’s a little different for your next lunch or dinner, this one is worth adding to the list.

Have you visited Rafi yet? 👇

A reminder that Sydney Fish Market isn’t just for tourists and daytime visits 🦀🌅

We swapped the usual dinner spots for a sunset seafood feast at The Boatshed and honestly, it was such a vibe. Watching the sun go down over the water while getting absolutely covered in Singapore chilli crab sauce was not how I planned to spend my evening… but no regrets.

Highlights of the night:

🦪 Steamed Pacific Oysters (ginger, shallots & chilli)
🍲 Pot of Mussels (spicy Napolitana sauce & sourdough)
🦞 Lobster Linguine (½ WA lobster, cherry tomatoes & chilli)
🦀 Singapore Chilli Mud Crab (1.5kg) + rice

The mud crab was definitely the star of the show — that claw was bigger than my hand 😳

Have you been to Sydney Fish Market for dinner before, or only during the day?

If you’re visiting Moku, these are the dishes I’d recommend:

• Sydney Rock Oyster with Ponzu & Finger Lime – fresh and briny with bright citrus notes that enhance the natural sweetness of the oyster.

• Chicken & Leek Tsukune with Truffle Ponzu & Yolk – juicy and tender, balanced by the richness of the yolk and the earthy depth of truffle.

• Scallop Aburi with Ikura, Wakame-Bacon Vinaigrette & Lemon Myrtle – delicate, buttery scallops with bursts of salinity from the ikura and a fresh, citrusy finish.

• Potato Gem with Hojicha Smoked Cream, Pepperberry & Tonburi – crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, with a creamy smoky sauce that keeps you reaching for more.

• Miso Eggplant Lasagna with Cheddar Cheese, Bunya Nut & Curly Parsley – rich, cheesy and deeply savoury, balanced by the nuttiness and freshness of the garnish.

• Hojicha Smoked Duck Breast with Heirloom Carrot, Hibiscus & Plum Dashi – tender duck with subtle smokiness, complemented by sweet, tart and umami flavours.

• Wagyu Tri Tip Yakiniku Steak with Quinoa, Shio Konbu, Shallot & Roasted Tomato – perfectly cooked wagyu with a great balance of richness, texture and acidity.

A thoughtful menu where each dish feels balanced and well considered, showcasing both flavour and texture without overcomplicating the plate.
