Just an update on Jason's May 50K for MS.
He has achieved in only 3 days 98.3kms!!! A huge effort for Jason and his brother Tim who paddled all the way with him.
The old dawg Tim Albee also got involved today for a paddle. The three amigo's - the "Athlete" Jason Cooper - MS guy, the "OH&S Officer" Tim Cooper - big brother and fellow Yakker & the "Hazard" Tim Albee - self-explanatory for all who know him set off from the low level bridge this morning.
The "Hazard" lived up to his name by his kayaking style - going sideways instead of straight, going backwards instead of going around, paddling to the left instead of right, going for a swim or two and may be the cause of another fellow yakker going into the drink (waiting for the video and will post when available).
It was an eye opener today seeing the amount of work involved in this pursuit. Jason is so committed and totally spent. The struggle is real - it's not just a paddle down the river. It is the putting in and pulling out the kayak at the beginning, middle going around obstacles and the end dragging them up tall slopes of sand. It is the dangers along the way (Jason went down a rapid and was tangled up underwater with a submerged tree - big brother was on hand to drag him out). Its the support crew with dropping off, turning up in the middle to cheer them on and the being there at the end point with hot food, drinks and a hug.
So proud of all involved - it is only the beginning with many more KM's to yak and we know Jason will meet every single one with a smile on his face. He is so grateful to all your support and sends his heartfelt thanks.
