We are ready to pack! After weeks of work grading, counting and inspecting bulbs we are all set up and ready to start sending out mail order packages! The first orders will be in the post tomorrow 🥳🌷

Summer colours Table Cape: brown and gold punctuated with a few splashes of colour. The dahlias are now flowering in The Patch and are starting to look wonderful. We have also had some tulips that we imported from Holland flowering in our quarantine area! Bulbs imported from the Northern Hemisphere flower at odd times whist they are becoming acclimatised to the Southern Hemisphere seasons, these bulbs will be planted again in just a few months alongside our main tulip crop.

We have completed our Dutch iris grading! After harvest the bulbs are dried quickly to prevent fungal infection. The bulbs are then passed over a preliminary grader to remove dirt and skins, and to separate out the small bulbs to be replanted in Autumn. The larger, saleable bulbs are sorted by size and inspected multiple times before they are counted. You can see the difference between the ungraded and graded bulbs!

We have finished harvesting the tulip bulbs and are now in the thick of cleaning and grading the bulbs. The bulbs are dried in large wooden bins before being pre-graded to remove most the very small bulbs, dirt and roots, cleaned of old roots and stems, sorted by size, inspected for quality and counted. Just look at those pretty bulbs! Order now to have tulips growing at your home in Spring 🌷😍

Our perennial and nursery area is looking with many of the mother plants coming into bloom. It is certainly the place to be for bees; you can hear the buzzing as you walk in!

It's all hands (and paws) on deck here at the farm at the moment. Yesterday we completed the hot and heavy work of harvesting the hyacinth bulbs. Although the bulbs are dug mechanically, to limit damage to the bulbs they are all picked up into crates by hand! The bulbs are then tipped (gently) into boxes, dried, graded, inspected and stored prior to shipping in Autumn.

Next job is the tulip harvest...

We are going to be at Longford Blooms! This weekend, the15th and 16th November, we will be on the Village Green as part of this beautiful event. We will have a spectacular range of potted peonies and other goodies, as well as dahlia tubers available. See you in Longford!

Another beautiful sunny morning at the Table Cape Tulip Farm! Cosmo enjoyed taking in the sights and smells on his morning walk in the tulips. The tulips are still colourful and the mud has disappeared so the last few days of the season will be excellent viewing. Don't miss your last chance to see the tulips this year. Open until Fri 31st October 9am-5pm daily.
