About Us

Rivendell is a family owned and operated winery in the northern end of the Margaret River wine region. The property is situated on the corner of Commonage and Wildwood Road. The Cellar Door is set on a hill with stunning views from the deck overlooking the renowned gardens and hills beyond. Rivendell is one of Margaret Rivers’ oldest and most beautiful and enchanting Winery Estates. Darryn and Celia Gruenthal own and operate the Cellar Door that is open Friday to Sunday. In addition to their premium wines there is a great range of gourmet snacks and drinks including beer, coffee and tea available to enjoy in the grounds. The Owners

Darryn and Silje (Celia) own Rivendell Winery Estate together with Danny and Corinne – Darryn’s parents. Relocating to Rivendell from Perth, Darryn and Celia re-opened the Rivendell Cellar Door in December 2017 after a short closure for refurbishment. Darryn and Celia relocated from Perth to live on site with their two young children. Wine

Darryn and Celia own and operate the winery business and work as a husband and wife team. The Rivendell Winery Estate range of wines is growing and truly reflects their passion for good, local wines. While the estate grows mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, fruit is also sourced from nearby, local producers to create a range of quality wines. Weddings

Rivendell enjoys hosting a selection of wedding celebrations and other fun life events. Celia coordinates most of the events with input and assistance from YEH – Yallingup Event Hire – and Gem Events. Rivendell Winery is the perfect weekend escape. Bring your family and friends to Rivendell, relax and have fun. The estate hosts small selection of weddings throughout the year and as such provides each couple the opportunity to create a true get-away feeling together with family and friends. There is room to sleep up to 56 adults on site right now and by late 2022 this will grow to 64. Villa 3 and 9 are currently under construction and will both boast fantastic valley and dam views. Each of the villa’s on site are fully self contained and feature at a minimum two bathrooms and vary from 3 to 5 bedrooms.

Meet Shadow, our beloved resident Rivendell Winery cat! She’s a sweet, curious explorer who calls our sprawling winery home. Whether she’s basking in the sun on the Restaurant and Cellar Door deck or prowling through the gardens, Shadow brings a little extra charm to your stay. If you visit, please keep your dogs on a lead, Shadow loves to be part of the magic, and we want everyone safe and happy. We can’t wait to see you soon when we reopen on the 16th of September!
