Mick Bradford's Heavy Horse Day

Mick Bradford's Heavy Horse Day Stand out event driving 10 horses abreast. Mick raised over $100,000.00 for Life Flight. For Mick there is no horse more powerful yet graceful than a Clydesdale.

Charity event which ran for 25 years on Mick's farm - a local legend showcasing heavy horses & demonstrating horse power farming equipment from the 1800's and 1900's. Like a step back in time, bring the kids for a once in a lifetime chance to see how things used to be done, without all the show and shine. This event recognises how real horsepower contributed to the development of agriculture, not only in Australia but across the globe. In 2017, the event is on Sunday 15th October. Man, horse and machine will work the land in this annual farming event held in the Swanfels Valley, 15 minutes outside Warwick or 2 hours from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Organised by the Killarney Lions Club with all funds raised donated to Life Flight Australia formerly RACQ Care Flight. Admission is $10 for adults and children free. Starts at 9am till 4pm. Mick Bradford has resided on this farm in Yangan all his life and now demonstrates equipment with horse power and static displays from Sunshine Harvesters Works, Massey Harris, International Harvester Company, McCormick Deering and other manufactures. As many as 10 heavy horses will combine to give working demonstrations, weather permitting, using a variety of implements from the 1800's and early 1900’s - cultivators, planters, haymakers, reapers, even digging potatoes. Do not miss Mick’s famous horseworks, driven by four or two horses will demonstrate pumping water, corn shelling, pumpkin slicing and wood cutting. New additions again this year will be an 2 x sets of bullock teams being put through their paces. Visitors will also be able to see displays including axes, whips, horse bits, plus working displays of harness making and blacksmithing and wheelwright. For the children there will be an animal nursery and jumping castle. The Killarney Lions will again have food and drink in the big blue tent. There will be burgers, camp oven stew and damper, pancakes & ice-cream and snow cones to feast on with a cold drink. Then wander through the market stalls and purchase some fresh fruit & vegetables or find an interesting souvenir of the day. This event is a tribute to the local community and to the many people from the surrounding areas that volunteer their time to make this day possible. Many months, days and hours have been spent organising this day for the public to see. Everyone is a volunteer from the car parking attendants, camp oven cook and food preparation by the Killarney Lions members, stall holders (whip making, axes, blacksmith etc) and market stall holders (homewares, books, fruit & vegetables) and especially the horseman who assist Mick on the field on the big day. Please show your support and visit Mick’s Heavy Horse Demonstration Day at Yangan on Sunday 15th October 2017 from 9am.
