🌸 The Great Dig & Divide Has Begun! 🌸

With the dahlia season coming to a close, it’s time for one of the biggest jobs of the year — digging and dividing tubers.

For those who are interested, this is what a dahlia tuber clump looks like after being lifted from the ground. Each of those individual tubers has the potential to become a brand new plant next season.

The exciting part? If a tuber contains a viable “eye” (a small growth point where next season’s shoot emerges), it will grow into a clone of its parent plant, producing the same beautiful blooms we enjoyed this season.

Every super star bloom needs its supporting cast 🌸

These gorgeous carnations will be hard at work next season, adding fragrance, texture, colour and longevity to our bouquets here at Yargullen Flower Farm.

I have to admit, carnations have completely won me over. Their ruffled petals, beautiful colours and incredible vase life make them one of my favourite flowers to grow.

I can’t wait to see these beauties paired with our dahlias, tulips, ranunculus and other seasonal blooms in next season’s bouquets 🤩

Some more snapdragon seeds being sown today of all different cut flower varieties. Did you know that snapdragon seed needs light to germinate & therefore are only sown on the surface of the growing medium.
