Malurus Miniature and Pygmy Goats

Malurus Miniature and Pygmy Goats Malurus Miniature Goats is a small, family run stud aiming to bred friendly, healthy Australian Miniature Goats and Pygmy Goats. We were hooked.

Our love for Australian Miniature Goats began in 2014 when our son gave me two young wethers as a birthday present. Miniature goats are very intelligent, curious and amusing. We decided they were perfectly suited to our lifestyle and property so we bought three beautiful does in kid and a promising buck kid. With our initial breeding herd started, we look forward to actively growing and improving

our bloodlines and sharing the joy of owning Australian Miniature Goats with others. Malurus is registered with the MGBAA .

Memphis Belle and Paragon had triplets this afternoon. Unfortunately, I was unable to revive the last little black boy. I had ducked inside to grab more towels and he was born en caul (in the sac). He had a heart beat but after 15 minutes of vigorous rubbing and CPR, he slipped away. 😢
The surviving twins are absolutely gorgeous though.

It’s going to be a long month for Aria. She is expecting triplets in mid September and is already feeling uncomfortable. Yesterday, I started to worry she was showing early signs of pregnancy toxemia so, along with a couple more expecting multiples, she was moved to a pen where we can monitor her and further control her diet. We are gradually introducing her to more grain rather than just lucerne. This will provide her with more energy whilst taking up less space in her rumen.

We came home from school to a surprise today. I could see this baby trying to drink from a doting mother. Unfortunately, the ‘mother,’ Sweetie Pie, had no udder and showed no signs of having given birth. But she was in love.
After checking all the other does we finally found his true mother, Sweetie Pie’s sister, Lolly, and reunited them. Sweetie Pie is so upset. She has not been joined this year.
This was not a planned pregnancy. I thought I had checked all the girls in season after we had a buck escape five months ago. Seems I missed a very sneaky doe.

Time to get the girls in for their prenatal treatments. We health check, vaccinate, give a copper bolus and trim feet 4-5 weeks prior to kidding. Our goats require copper boluses as our bore water is high in sulphur.
