We’re incredibly proud to announce the sale of MAK Vigilant Star V276 to Rob Roy Speckle Park

What is understood to be the second highest price achieved for a stud SP female in the breed to date this year

Vigilant Star is a female we have always thought a lot of a powerful, deep bodied heifer with plenty of thickness, capacity and presence, backed by genetics we’re very proud to have in the MAK program.

Sired by JAD The Marshall T87, she has proven herself in the show ring, including 1st in the 18–19 month Speckle Park Female class at Sydney Royal 2026.

Her performance figures complement her phenotype, ranking in the Top 2% for IMF, Top 7% Rump Fat, Top 8% Rib Fat, Top 10% Mature Cow Weight and Top 15% Scrotal Size EBV.

Rob Roy have admired The Marshall and his genetics for some time and were particularly drawn to Vigilant Star’s thickness, depth and overall capacity. She will now become part of their stud breeding program and, following calving, is planned to enter their donor program for flushing.

We’ve been equally impressed with what we’ve seen from The Marshall genetics. We’re very pleased to have The Marshall semen safely in the tank, as well as another Marshall daughter currently on our show team, so these genetics will certainly continue to have a place within the MAK herd.

It’s always rewarding to see a female we have bred and shown go on to play an important role in another stud program.

We wish Rob Roy Speckle Park every success with Vigilant Star and look forward to seeing what this exciting young female produces.

At each JAD Sale to date, Amy has selected her favourite bull out of each catalogue, and we have donated 10% of the auction sale price for that bull to the Black Dog Institute.

At the 3rd JAD Speckle Park & Angus QLD Bull Sale last Friday, that bull was Lot 5, JAD VEDETTE V287 (JAD V287), selling for $11,000 to Huntly Trust, Rolleston, QLD. Thank you for your support of both our program and this important cause!

We have today donated $1100 to the Black Dog Institute. We have now donated a total of $23,240 to the Black Dog Institute across all 12 JAD Sales held to date, and look forward to continuing this inititative at our 9th JAD Speckle Park Bull + Female Sale on April 9.

Great to catch up on the phone with one of our clients from Western Australia today. He bought five PTIC stud heifers from us, which were trucked over to the west in May by Falls Livestock Transport. The five heifers were all PTIC by AI. All calved unassisted, producing three heifers and two bull calves that weighed between 30-37kg at birth.
