Over the last month or so I’ve been reviving the liquor cabinet my grandfather built. All new mirrors and shelf glass with some external woodwork. Happy it will have a few more years of use.

“Beer names that are hell long and don’t have anything to do with the beer are fu***ng dumb” 😜 .beer now in 500mL cans have released “F.A.F.F #5 IPA. Just a sessionable 6.8% & 80IBU’s. Great to see everyone posting this as it lands around the country, the hype is real! Some earthy notes in the background with a decent stonefruit bitterness. The nose is subtle and body balanced. Probably the biggest edition so far and that’s not just the can size.

I butchered the pronunciation of this beer on the podcast this evening however enjoyed it very much. “Polybius High Score” is a 11.5% & 500mL Coconut Dulce de Leche Imperial Stout. With Homemade Coconut Milk Dulce de Leche, Coconut Sugar and bourbon soaked Pasilla Chilli’s full filling the insanity. Sweet caramel with a little hint of coconut & chilli with a dry finish. Really cool flavours done really well as is the way. I could really see coconut milk used more in big stouts to keep said beers lactose free and vegan, which could open them up to a bigger audience.

& combine for this 5.5% & 375mL “Honeycomb Mocha Flavoured Stout” . It is what you’d expect with coffee and chocolate notes, not much honeycomb and lacking a little depth. Considering it has lactose and vanilla I’d expect a fuller body and mouthfeel however it’s quite thin and that maybe by design for those who may have not dabbled far.

For those who’ve followed any of my beer journey, this is one of those beers I’ve wanted to tick off my list. 3000 odd posts of my beery nonesense has culminated in ‘s iconic . Known as the one of the first commercial interpretations of a . At 8% & 510mL, this is probably the freshest we see here in Australia bottled less than a month ago. Pliny was a Roman naturalist, scholar, historian and author who referred to “Lupus Salicatarius” likely a nod to hop bines growing wild amongst the willows. He died in 79AD saving people from the eruption of Mt Vesuvius however his nephew and adopted son, Pliny the Younger (which I can’t afford) cemented his legacy. Only a Blind Pig (which I also can’t afford) would not appreciate this beer for what it’s worth. With stonefruit characteristics and decent bitterness, I can see why this blew people away 27 odd years ago and continues to punch strong. My guess is that I won’t be permitted into the states for a few years so I’ll do the best I can in the meantime.

“All Green Everything” is one of those beers I’ve always wanted get my mitts on. 10.5% and approx. 455mL of . Boasting Motueka, Citra & Mosaic in this thick and juicy masterpiece that is balanced to perfection. A bit expensive to get to Australia and only a month old which is about as good as we can get. A very, very nice beer.
