CHROMEDALES
Our Chromedale Maternals are the sheep that have put Chrome on the map & utilize the benefits of a number of productive breeds mostly Coopworth, Perendale, Poll Dorset and the odd small infusion of East Friesian. They are bred with extra focus on tighter lamb pelts and a slightly earlier breeding season for those producers who still want to lamb in April/May/June. PERENDALES
Perendales

produce moderate frame score progeny that have very good early maturity as sucker lambs. Perendales are compact nuggetty sheep with black hooves & noses, extremely hardy & worm tolerant. COOPWORTHS
Coopworths make up the backbone of many self replacing ewe flocks in southern Australia and for a very good reason. Their superior mothering ability, fertility & suitability to wet environments has to be seen to be believed by most people. ICON POLL DORSETS
ICON Poll Dorset stud which was founded in 2002 & has become a force to reckon with in the terminal sire industry, due to some large scale AI & Embryo Transfer programs. Poll Dorset ram sales have increased every year since the studs' inception - further proof the rams are "doing the job". ICON SOUTHIE
The use of Southdown rams over a selection of ICON Poll Dorset stud ewes has enabled Chrome to produce a line of rams that will produce earlier maturing lamb.

🔦 SPOTLIGHT ON CHROME SHEDDERS
The Chrome Shedders are an exciting and rapidly growing part of our breeding program, developed to help producers meet the challenges of rising labour costs, shearing and crutching requirements, and increasing animal welfare expectations.

Today our Chrome Shedder stud numbers around 1,000 stud ewes, allowing us to apply strong selection pressure and continue making rapid genetic progress through our annual embryo transfer program.

Our breeding focus includes:
✔️ Fertility
✔️ Carcase & muscling
✔️ Sound black feet
✔️ Worm resistance
✔️ Clean shedding
✔️ Suitability to high rainfall environments

Chrome Shedder rams are offered each January at our Chrome Summer Sale, when their shedding ability can be fully assessed.
