After an incredible 5,200 km journey from WA to Far North QLD—with a two-week spell in Kingaroy—our bull, cow, and heifer have finally arrived at their new home – Gadgarra Murray Grey Stud.
Straight off the truck, they were treated to a full care routine: spray, pour-on, and pain relief, before settling into a well-prepared stables with fresh sawdust bedding, clean water, grain, and plenty of hay.
As they haven’t yet been blooded for tick fever, we’re awaiting the Tick Fever (three germ) vaccine, which is due to arrive this Wednesday. Normally we vaccinate on arrival, but supply delays have meant adjusting our plans. Tomorrow, they’ll move into cordoned, slashed paddocks where shorter grass reduces the likelihood of ticks attaching.
The next two months will require constant vigilance, with a strict spraying regime every five days while they build immunity and pass through the critical stages of the three germ vaccine process.
We’d like to sincerely thank Kurt Wise of Southend Murray Greys for breeding such quality and more importantly, fertile cattle and for the exceptional care provided prior to transport.
We had Southend Victory and Southend Van collected prior to their trip, anyone interested in straws please pm for details.
We are also incredibly grateful to Marilyn Hasen and Dean Rasamusin of Shell-Dee Murray Grey Stud for their dedication during the two-week stopover—especially the extra care given to our injured bull. Your commitment, including twice-daily treatment, truly went above and beyond.
A very special thank you to Stuart Milne of South Burnett Livestock Vets. Your expertise, attention to detail, and follow-up care have been outstanding. We are genuinely blown away by your compassion and professionalism.
It’s been a long journey with its challenges, but we’re thankful for the support, care, and efforts of all those who have helped get these animals to their new home.
