Job Title: Technical Officer

Indirect reports to: Divisional Administrator, WorldFish Rajshahi
About Us:
M/S Monika Hatchery is one of the largest and well-known private fish seed producing farms in Northwestern Bangladesh which is located in Bagmara, Rajshahi. This hatchery is producing quality carp fish seeds since 1989 and thus playing a vital role in flourishing aquaculture in Northwestern Bangladesh.
Purpose of Position:
The technical officer will be exclusively engaged in overall implementation of the project titled âIncrease Fish Production through Quality Seed Supply and Ensuring Embedded Service for of Better Management Practiceâ, which is a sub-project of WorldFish led âAquaculture: increasing income, diversifying diets, and empowering women in Bangladesh and Nigeriaâ Project, funded by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF). S/He will be reportable to the managing director of Monika Hatchery and will work closely with WorldFish Rajshahi team. As and when necessary, he will be advised by the Divisional Administrator (WorldFish Rajshahi) of the project.
Responsibilities:
âĸ Undertake field level activities under the supervision of MD and advised by the Divisional Administrator of WorldFish Rajshahi.
âĸ Identify potential fish seed supply chain actors (nursery operators, seed traders) and create digit database as advised by WorldFish.
âĸ Conduct capacity development activities (e.g. training) for selected nursery operators and seed traders.
âĸ Follow-up the activities of trained supply chain actors and support them to provide embedded service to their clients as per requirement.
âĸ Assist to produce and distribute aquaculture technology extension materials
âĸ Assist to organize linkage building program (e.g. Workshop) with different forward and backward market actors of Aquaculture.
âĸ Provide necessary support in modernization of seed production facilities.
âĸ Develop and maintain liaison with local aquaculture stakeholders including Govt. organization (DoF) and private sectors.
âĸ Assist to prepare project progress and other reports, as and when required.
âĸ Work closely and in collaboration with WorldFish staffs to achieve common project goal.
âĸ Any other activities assigned MD of the Hatchery.
Requirements:
This job is open to Bangladesh Nationals with the following skills and qualifications:
âĸ Minimum Bachelor Degree in Aquaculture/Fisheries/or a related subject area, but masters in Aquaculture/Fisheries science will have preference.
âĸ Minimum one years of professional experience in aquaculture/Fisheries, especially in aquaculture extension/market systems.
âĸ Practical experience in conducting aquaculture training, workshop and other field extension activities.
âĸ Knowledge of the various smallholder and commercial aquaculture systems in use in Bangladesh- particularly those of importance to the NW of Bangladesh.
âĸ Skills in computer operation as well as in email communication.
âĸ Fluency in English spoken and report writing.
Benefits:
The annual salary ranging between BDT 3,00,000 â BDT 3,60,000 per annum.
Eligibility, Location and Duration:
This position will be based at M/S Monika Hatchery, Bagmara, Rajshahi, Bangladesh. Interviews are expected to be held in July 2021 and only shortlisted candidates will be notified and expected to attend the interview. The successful candidate should be available to commence in July 2021 for an initial 1-year temporary contract, with the possibility of contract renewal depending on performance and funding availability.
