I don't always like to make cartoon character cake's, but there was something in the colours and the ability to create a design roughly based on the theme of Gabbys Dolls House from the customer, that made me want to take this order.
When creating something like a cartoon character cake, you have to love the theme and feel confident in your ability to create a character that represents. I know instantly if I'm able to try my hand at something or if I want to!
A cartoon character is so excat. The shape of an eye, the curve of a smile, there's limited room to play. I don't want to disappoint a child in giving something that doesn't represent. That's why I'm strict in what orders I take. What I feel comfortable in making, but sometimes knowing that it will be fun pushing that comfort zone. I try to help with customers' requests as much as possible. The recent trend for Frozen cakes means that I've provided a basic design where your own cake toppers can be added. Pokemon cakes, I will now provide an edible print. But I do say no to many requests. I'm not being difficult, I just always want to provide the best possible service, the best tasting cake, the most beautiful, fun designs. And I want to love what I do!
