Spreading the Languedoc-Roussillon gospel, with the great wines of Denois Jean-Louis AOP Terrasses du Larzac Domaine des Schistes Domaine de l'Accent Domaine de Cébène Domaine Sainte Croix Domaine le Casot des Mailloles Domaine Gardies , Benjamin Taillandier and a mesmerising white Maury from terres de Fagayra.

One participant said: the wines are from such a warm climate, yet we don’t feel it, they are so balanced! Spot on!

Bedankt Wijngilde 't Proeverke!

Two late cancellations for tomorrow’s Sangiovese tasting at Vinilegium. Interested? Send me a message.

For the experts: the picture is taken from an iconic winery whose wines you may taste - but only if you come 😉 have a guess in the comments

Throwback to last weekend’s La Soulenque organised by . An honour to be there in the beautiful premises of Château de Malmont, a stone’s throw away from the Lac du Salagou at the western tip of the AOP.

Terrasses du Larzac rose to fame in no time, and is now the next big thing in Languedoc wine. This weekend confirmed all my positive impressions. The average level is high. Southern wines, yet all to some extent (and often very clearly) marked by the cooling influence of the causse du Larzac, the limestone plateau against which most of the vineyards are plotted.

A region where so much young talent from within but also outside the region has established itself over the past years. The best is yet to come – although the threat of climate change is tangible even more in these southern parts.

And lovely to see the community spirit among the growers – be they born and bred Languedociens or young mavericks from abroad.

Too many coups de coeur to name them all, but a shoutout to some new discoveries:

Many many thanks to the Syndicat for organising this splendid weekend.

Memories of a lovely summer evening with dito people. Starting off with the Le Brun - Servenay GC blanc de blancs. Textbook Avize chardonnay, without MLF in this case, a great acid kick to start the evening. Mantoulan 2009 proving the incredible ageworthiness of dry Jurançon - golden hues in the glass but still so energetic. On to a prephylloxeric Mavrodaphne from Kephalonia, robust and gamey, excellent partner for the Simmental de Bavière on the grill. The same can be said of the Conterno Barbera - showing that balance can be achieved even at 15+ abv. A truly mesmerising wine. And JJ rises to any occasion - though I sometimes wonder how long I have to keep these wines before they start tasting old. This 03 still a baby.
