Throwback to last weekend’s La Soulenque organised by . An honour to be there in the beautiful premises of Château de Malmont, a stone’s throw away from the Lac du Salagou at the western tip of the AOP.
Terrasses du Larzac rose to fame in no time, and is now the next big thing in Languedoc wine. This weekend confirmed all my positive impressions. The average level is high. Southern wines, yet all to some extent (and often very clearly) marked by the cooling influence of the causse du Larzac, the limestone plateau against which most of the vineyards are plotted.
A region where so much young talent from within but also outside the region has established itself over the past years. The best is yet to come – although the threat of climate change is tangible even more in these southern parts.
And lovely to see the community spirit among the growers – be they born and bred Languedociens or young mavericks from abroad.
Too many coups de coeur to name them all, but a shoutout to some new discoveries:
Many many thanks to the Syndicat for organising this splendid weekend.
