Om de geruchtenstroom rond Struise in deze woelige tijden de kop in te drukken, delen wij graag onze kant van het verhaal. Waar rook is, is vaak vuur, maar wij willen een meer helder en genuanceerd beeld schetsen.
De nasleep van Covid-19 in 2020 blijft ons parten spelen en heeft ons gedwongen om na 5 jaar continue crisis, onze koers aan te passen. Voor alle duidelijkheid: wij sluiten niet. Wel staan we voor de zware taak om ons bedrijf drastisch te herstructureren en te heroriënteren. Zonder deze veranderingen zou uiteindelijke sluiting onvermijdelijk zijn. Alleen door te vernieuwen, kunnen we sterker terugkomen en verder bouwen aan een duurzame toekomst.
Meer dan 15 jaar lang hebben wij onze activiteiten verdeeld over twee locaties in Oostvleteren: onze productieruimte (het schooltje) en onze opslag (de loods). Door de dalende vraag naar bier en structurele veranderingen in de brouwerijsector zien we ons echter genoodzaakt één van deze locaties te verkopen en al onze activiteiten onder 1 dak samen te brengen. Hoewel de verkoop verre van is afgerond, lijkt dit een onvermijdelijke stap om schuldafbouw te bevorderen, ons bedrijf te versterken en onze kernactiviteiten efficiënter en van hoge kwaliteit te houden. Het is een pijnlijke beslissing, maar een noodzakelijke om onze toekomst veilig te stellen.
Ondertussen blijft onze proefzaal in het schooltje elke zaterdagnamiddag geopend van 14.00 tot 18.00 uur. Wij nodigen u van harte uit om langs te komen, te genieten van een heerlijk Struise bier en uw ideeën met ons te delen.

To address the rumors surrounding Struise during these turbulent times, we would like to share our side of the story. Where there’s smoke, there’s often fire, but we aim to present a clearer and more balanced perspective.
The aftermath of Covid-19 in 2020 continues to affect us, and after five years of continuous crisis, we have been forced to adjust our course. Let us be clear: we are not closing. However, we are faced with the daunting task of drastically restructuring and reorienting our business. Without these changes, eventual closure would be inevitable. Only through renewal can we come back stronger and continue building toward a sustainable future.
For more than 15 years, we have divided our activities across two locations in Oostvleteren: our production site (the schoolhouse) and our storage facility (the warehouse). Unfortunately, due to declining beer demand and structural changes in the brewing industry, we are now compelled to sell one of these locations and consolidate all our operations under one roof. While the sale is far from realised, it seems an unavoidable step to further reduce debt, strengthen our company, and keep our core activities more efficient and of the highest quality. It is a painful decision, but a necessary one to secure our future.
In the meantime, our tasting room in the schoolhouse remains open every Saturday afternoon from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. We warmly invite you to stop by, enjoy a delicious Struise beer, and share your ideas with us.

Pour mettre fin aux rumeurs concernant Struise en ces temps turbulents, nous souhaitons partager notre version des faits. Là où il y a de la fumée, il y a souvent du feu, mais nous voulons offrir une perspective plus claire et nuancée.
Les répercussions du Covid-19 en 2020 continuent de nous affecter, et après cinq années de crise continue, nous avons été contraints d’ajuster notre cap. Pour être clairs : nous ne fermons pas. Cependant, nous faisons face à la lourde tâche de restructurer et de réorienter drastiquement notre entreprise. Sans ces changements, une fermeture à terme serait inévitable. C’est uniquement en nous renouvelant que nous pourrons revenir plus forts et continuer à construire un avenir durable.
Depuis plus de 15 ans, nous avons réparti nos activités sur deux sites à Oostvleteren : notre site de production (l’école) et notre entrepôt (le hangar). Malheureusement, en raison de la baisse de la demande de bière et des changements structurels dans le secteur brassicole, nous sommes contraints de vendre l’un de ces sites et de regrouper toutes nos activités sous un même toit. Bien que la vente soit loin d’être conclue, cette décision semble être une étape incontournable pour réduire davantage nos dettes, renforcer notre entreprise et garantir une efficacité optimale ainsi que la qualité de nos activités principales. C’est une décision douloureuse, mais essentielle pour sécuriser notre avenir.
En attendant, notre salle de dégustation située dans l’école reste ouverte chaque samedi après-midi de 14h00 à 18h00. Nous vous invitons chaleureusement à venir nous rendre visite, savourer une délicieuse bière Struise et partager vos idées avec nous.
