Rooted in the heart of Bermuda and crafted with soul, Brother Black’s TRS (Traditional Rum Swizzle) is more than just a drink — it’s a legacy in a bottle. Founded by Michael “Minch” Rawlins, a proud Bermudian with deep family ties and a passion for island tradition, this swizzle’s story began back in 1986. At just 18 years old, Minch was mixing 55-gallon barrels of swizzle for hundreds of tourists

at Hawkins Island while helping his uncles with cooking and landscaping. Those early days — the laughter, the island music, the joy of sharing swizzle — left a lasting mark. After 31 years of service as a full-time firefighter, Minch retired in 2017. A simple request to make swizzle for a Super Bowl party sparked something deeper. Encouraged by friends who tasted the batch and loved it, he set out to turn his lifelong love of swizzle into a business. He dotted every “i”, crossed every “t”, and built his brand from the ground up. But Brother Black’s TRS is not just Minch’s story — it’s also a tribute to his grandmother, Alice June Beach Rawlins, affectionately known as “G.M.A”. She was the cornerstone of his life and is the soul of this brand. The day before she passed, G.M.A held the first bottle of Brother Black’s TRS, smiled ear to ear, and blessed it with her pride and prayers. The brand’s label features blue and pink, her favorite colors, chosen with love and intention. Even the beach in the logo honors her middle name, “Beach”, weaving her legacy directly into the fabric of the brand.
