100 days of Kai. My first Mother’s Day. One year since finding out I was pregnant.

Being pregnant made me find space within myself, grow and soften in ways I didn’t expect. Giving birth made me raw, sensitive and tender. Mothering brought out my caring, nurturing and feminine side even more. I come back to work, but not the same way I left.

And it spills into everything else too.

Into my cooking. Less impress, more express. Purpose instead of perfection. Connection over comparison. Cooking with more intention, more care, more honesty. Thinking more about what I’m contributing, what kind of spaces I’m creating and what I’m leaving behind.

Becoming Kai’s mother also gave me even more clarity around sakai.cooks — and why I feel so drawn to creating spaces around nourishment, creativity, sensitivity and connection. Spaces where people can slow down, feel held, share honestly and leave a little softer than when they arrived.

We’re back!
After indulging in a beautiful pregnancy hiatus, I look forward to do what I love: to cook and gather.
