We currently have a few more rows thickening up, and another tree producing a bunch as well!

We’re so grateful and feel so blessed to be on this journey 🌳💚🙏

Dá para sentir a empolgação pelas fotos? 🤩

Essas fotos são das nossas primeiras bananas! Olha só quantos polinizadores! 🐝💛🍌

Temos mais algumas fileiras engrossando e uma outra bananeira produzindo um cacho também!

(PT ↓) Did you know mushrooms are the fruit of fungi? And we need them to grow food.

Fungal threads are what keep our ecosystems alive. These threads are actually a network called ‘mycelium.’ They are communication pathways that allow plants to share nutrients and support each other.

Without them, digestion in our environments would not take place, i.e, organic matter would not break down in our soils, leaving plants hungry and malnourished.

This is why regenerative farming prioritises minimal soil disturbance. By protecting mycelium, we ensure the soil remains a living, self-sustaining system that naturally nourishes our crops without the need for synthetic inputs! 🍄‍🟫🍄

( PT ↓ ) 🔳 Patchwork 🔲

As a small team, we are regenerating our land one patch at a time. Like a mosaic, we are expanding our efforts in sections — listening to the unique needs and characteristics of each piece of the whole.

The patch pictured here is our first (we call it “The Lab”), a year after implementation. It’s our first go at designing and managing a syntropic (successional) agroforestry system, filled with lots of veggies in between. 🌱🌽🫜🥕

This moment in time captures her receiving her first summer rains; thriving, lush, and growing fast! 🌿

🔳 Mosaico 🔲

Our food forest is growing, and we’re relying on nature’s wisdom to guide us through this next season of expansion! 🙏🌱💚

How beautiful are these native seeds? 😍

Plantar espécies nativas é fundamental para sincronizar a agricultura com a

(PT↓ nos comentários) Crioulo corn! 🌽✨

Crioulo seeds are heirloom/ traditional seeds, cultivated, selected and preserved by farmers over generations.🫘 They are adapted to the local conditions of where they originated.

The availability and diversity of heirloom seeds dramatically declined in Brazil due to the “Green Revolution” in the 1960s, which was an agricultural model of replacing traditional seeds with genetically modified seeds (GMOs) produced by private companies.🔬🧫 This seed replacement process required a technological package of inputs such as synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, and agrochemicals, which are now proven to be harmful to human and ecological health.🦠

Corn in particular is one of the crops whose varieties were impacted the most, some being at risk of extinction today.

Supporting families and projects that grow crioulo seeds is increasingly important to preserve biodiversity, and produce quality, healthy and nutritious food for the future of humanity and our planet. 🌱

We’re so grateful to be a small part of this story, and to continue learning more about the importance of traditional agroecology. 🙏💛🌳
