My heart is heavy. Today we morn the loss of this special gem. Her light shone so brightly and her smile was contagious. We will miss you so much words cannot express. We love you. Sleep on in God's embrace my love. Give a big hug to mom.

Here is the second poem by Scott:

"Life, it seems, is an adventure in itself. Sometimes, however, we are called beyond the bounds of our tired, bored existances and we find ourselves strangers in a strange land...
So it was when we reached the shores of Rum Cay-an awkward group of noisy, curious Americans with backpacks and cameras pouring off the Spirit of Massachusetts like warf rats.
We were surrounded by the natural beauty of the Bahamas and it's welcoming warmth.
But, what is more astounding, far more worthy than the blue seas and skies, what compliments the vibrant flowers and the canvas of nature is the wealth of hospitality offered by you Dolores, and your family and friends at The Kaye's Restaurant & Bar.
You open your arms to us and grant us kindness and warmth equal to that of home.
Food and drink, the most essential means of life-transformed into a celebration of life itself.
Why do you Dolores, offer us a home away from home? The question is just a mere suggestion at the back of our minds.
But sitting here, on the foundation created by your hands, surrounded by your food, drink and pictured walls and turtle shells-the appreciation is as deep as faith.

Thank you to Scott Curatolo-Wagemann who kindly sent us this message:

25 years ago today, April 6, 1994, I was bit by a probable lemon shark while visiting your island. For years my mother wrote exchanged letters with Delores. I came across these poems that friends of mine had written before I had been to Rum Cay/Kaye's. They may be buried in the guest books that people would sign. But anyway I thought I'd share these 2 poems about Delores and Kaye's:

"We have traveled from corners unbeknownst to the dull and hypnotized. We have seen the treasures of Mother Nature strewn both far and wide. On a ship of wood we cross the barrier of dream and reality. And even though we have been rocked and tossed, for the experience of knowledge it truly is necessity. But when we made it through where the tempest lays, we came across a most beautiful oasis-and it's name was Kaye's."Douglas Pace
