DAY 5: WE’RE DOUBLING! 🍞🫧

I missed posting yesterday, but my dehydrated sourdough starter is officially making a comeback!

She’s doubling in size, bubbling away, and looking GOOD! 🙌

Today’s feeding was approximately 1:4:4, with a little extra flour because I prefer a thicker starter.

After more than a year of sourdough baking, I’ve learned that there’s no need to overcomplicate it.

I’ve figured out the consistency that works for me, and I’ve learned not to stress over every little bubble. 😂

Sourdough is supposed to be FUN!

Are you team thick starter or team runny starter? 👇

 Sourdough Comeback — Day 2!

🍞 SOURDOUGH COMEBACK: DAY 2! 😂

Well, we’ve got bubbles! Not a whole lot of them, but I’ll take what I can get! 🫧

If you missed Day 1, I’m trying to bring my sourdough starter back to life after taking a break from baking while I was traveling.

Before my break, I dehydrated some of my own strong, active starter. Now we’re seeing if it still has some life left in it!

Today’s feeding:
🍞 28g starter
💧 21g warmish water
🌾 28g flour

No discard today! I’m keeping all 28 grams of starter and giving it another feeding.

It’s basically a 1:1:1 feeding ratio, just a little less water because I prefer working with a stiff sourdough starter.

Now we wait… again. 😂

Will tomorrow bring more bubbles? A little rise? Or just another jar of flour paste?

Stay tuned for Day 3!

Sourdough friends, do you prefer a stiff starter or a more liquid starter?

And so it begins… AGAIN! 😂🍞I’ve been doing so much traveling lately that my sourdough adventures got put on the back bur...

And so it begins… AGAIN! 😂🍞

I’ve been doing so much traveling lately that my sourdough adventures got put on the back burner!

But before I took my break, I dehydrated some of my own sourdough starter while it was still strong, healthy, and active.

Now it’s time to see if I can bring it back to life! 🤞

A little flour, a little water, and a whole lot of patience. 😂

Will we have beautiful, bubbly sourdough starter in a few days? Or am I just feeding a jar of flour for nothing? 🤣

Either way, I’m bringing you along for the adventure!

🍞 Sourdough friends, have you ever revived dehydrated starter? How long did yours take to wake up?

Follow along for Part 2! ❤️

And so it begins… AGAIN! 😂🍞After all the traveling I’ve been doing lately, my sourdough adventures have been on hold. Bu...

And so it begins… AGAIN! 😂🍞

After all the traveling I’ve been doing lately, my sourdough adventures have been on hold. But I’m finally home long enough to get back to it!

Before taking my break, I dehydrated some of my own sourdough starter while it was still strong and active. Now it’s time to see if I can bring it back to life! 🤞

Today we’re starting with a little flour, water, and a whole lot of hope. 😂

Will my starter wake right back up, or am I about to spend the next several days talking to a jar of flour and water?

Stay tuned! This could be the beginning of some delicious homemade sourdough bread… or a science experiment in my kitchen. 🤣

Have you ever revived dehydrated sourdough starter? How long did yours take to get bubbly again?

🌪️🏰 Hurricane headed toward Florida? Does that mean your Disney World vacation is ruined? NOT necessarily!

As a retired Disney Cast Member with 18 years of experience and a Central Florida local, let me share something Disney World visitors need to know!

🌴 Florida is a BIG state! Just because a hurricane is approaching Florida doesn’t mean Orlando, Kissimmee, or Walt Disney World will experience the same weather.

☀️ Sometimes Central Florida has beautiful weather while other parts of the state are dealing with storms. Other times, we get days of nonstop rain!

✈️ Here’s what I recommend before your Disney vacation:

✅ Check your flight status, including connecting airports.
✅ Watch the actual storm track, not just the headlines.
✅ Check driving conditions if you’re taking a road trip.
✅ Pack for rain, sunshine, and even chilly Florida evenings.
✅ Stay updated on official weather alerts and Disney park operations.

📅 Remember, Florida hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30!

After 18 years working at Disney, one thing I know is that Florida weather is NEVER guaranteed! 😂

💬 Have you ever visited Walt Disney World during hurricane season? Did the weather affect your vacation?
