Gold and silver prices saw a sharp fall on September 29, 2026. According to IBJA, 24-carat gold fell by Rs 4,133 in a day to Rs 1,47,980 per 10 grams. Silver fell Rs 9,297 to Rs 2.23 lakh per kg. Compared to August end, gold is down nearly Rs 8,000-9,000 (from Rs 1.56 lakh) and silver down Rs 14,000-15,000.Reason for fall: Strong US dollar, rise in crude oil (Brent at $108), global sell-off, and US Fed hiking interest rate by 0.25% - first hike in 3 years.
