Kaka Farmer's Association donated P30,000.00 to Botswana National Beef Producers Union-BW during the cordon fence rehabilitation campaign held at Letlhakane Kgotla.
Speaking at the event, the area Member of Parliament, Hon. K. Atamelang, urged farmers to embrace a more hands-on approach to livestock production. “Are tsweng mogonneng barui fela, re nne badisa!” he said, emphasizing the importance of farmers being actively involved in the day-to-day management of their livestock enterprises rather than being absentee owners.
Hon. Atamelang highlighted that the success and profitability of the livestock sector depend on farmers closely monitoring animal health, nutrition, breeding, and overall herd performance. He further commended the collaborative efforts of farmers, industry stakeholders, and community leaders in supporting the rehabilitation of cordon fences, which play a critical role in disease control, market access, and safeguarding Botswana’s beef industry.
The donation by Kaka Farmers Association demonstrates the commitment of local farmers to strengthening the livestock sector and supporting initiatives that contribute to improved animal health, productivity, and sustainable agricultural development.
Kgosi Dira Galeragwe of Letlhakane in the Boteti District encouraged farmers by sharing a message from Isaiah 41, reminding them to remain steadfast and courageous despite the challenges facing the agricultural sector. Quoting the scripture, he said:
“O se ka wa boifa, gonne ke na nao; o se ka wa tshoga, gonne ke Modimo wa gago. Ke tla go nonotsha, ee, ke tla go thusa; ee, ke tla go tshegetsa ka seatla sa me sa moja sa tshiamo.” (Isaia 41:10)
