🐴 We’re looking for a Beginner Riding Instructor to join the Miellie Meadows team!

As our lesson program continues to grow, we’re looking for another wonderful instructor who has a genuine love for teaching beginner riders and helping them build confidence, skills and a great foundation with horses.

Miellie Meadows is a positive reinforcement based farm where our horses are barefoot and ridden bitless. The wellbeing of our horses is always at the heart of what we do, so finding someone who shares our values and approach to horsemanship is really important to us.

Our program is English based and includes riding, groundwork and jumping. We have an amazing team of intermediate and advanced instructors and are excited to add someone who especially enjoys working with riders at the beginning of their journey.

We’re looking for someone who is kind, encouraging, reliable and comfortable working with both kids and adults. Most importantly, we want someone who loves horses, loves teaching and wants to be part of a supportive barn community.

🐾 Meet the Herd Monday: Marley Edition 🐾

Okay, so she may not technically be part of the herd, but there was no way we could leave Marley out. Especially this week, because our sweet girl is officially a momma! 🥹❤️

Marley came to the farm as the most adorable (and very shy) Swiss Mountain Dog/Bernese cross puppy, tucked safely in the arms of Claus. It didn’t take long before that shy little puppy completely stole everyone’s hearts.

If you know Marley, you know her favourite things include cuddling (preferably spooning), napping whenever the opportunity presents itself, rolling down hills on her back, especially if there’s snow, and using that incredibly sweet face to convince absolutely anyone with yummy food that they should probably share with her. 😂

But this past weekend, we got to see a whole new side of our Marley girl when she became a momma to SEVEN adorable puppies! 🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶

It was a long and difficult birthing process that ultimately included surgery, and we are so incredibly proud of her. Somehow, through everything her body has been through, Marley has already found the strength to begin healing, care for her seven little babies AND even make a trip out to visit the barn. ❤️

There really is just something about Marley.

She is gentle, loving, hilarious, incredibly sweet and one of those special souls that makes everyone around her feel a little happier.

If you know Marley, you love Marley. We feel pretty lucky that this magical girl gets to be part of the Miellie Meadows family. 🤍

Congratulations, Momma Marley. We love you so much. 🐾❤️

Meet the Herd Monday… on a Wednesday 🤭🐴

Whoops — we may have missed Monday, but we couldn’t wait another week to introduce one of the newest additions to our instructor team, Bailey! 💜

Bailey has been part of the Miellie Meadows community for just over a year and a half, first joining us as a rider and volunteer before eventually becoming part of our team. She recently stepped into the role of Junior Instructor, and we’re so excited to have her sharing everything she’s learned with the next generation of riders!

We asked Bailey a few questions so you can get to know her a little better…

💜 Favourite thing about Miellie Meadows:

🏂 Outside of the barn: Snowboarding, baking, painting and exploring!

🐎 How her love of horses started:
Bailey has always been a huge animal lover and remembers insisting her family stop anytime they passed a farm so she could say hello. After more than a year of convincing her parents to let her take riding lessons, they finally said yes — and, as Bailey says, her life changed for the better.

She started riding at 11 years old and says she now spends more time at the barn than she does at her own house 😂

One of the things we love most about Bailey’s story is that she’s grown through so many different parts of Miellie Meadows — from rider, to volunteer, to working around the farm, and now to Junior Instructor. It’s pretty special watching our young horse people grow in their skills, confidence and horsemanship and then begin passing that knowledge along to others.

We’re so happy to have you on the instructor team, Bailey! 💜🐴

At Miellie Meadows, we can make that happen! Our interactive horse experiences can be tailored for photo sessions, giving you the opportunity to include one of our amazing horses in your shoot.

We’ll help choose the right horse for what you have in mind and make sure they’re clean, groomed and ready for their close-up.

Good morning everybody
I was really hoping that the air quality was going to improve, but it actually looks as bad or worse than yesterday.
The recommendation is to not even go outside if you don’t have to…
I do not feel that it is safe to do lessons today. If you want to come play with horses, I would recommend no free lunging and only very chill activities at the walk.
It looks like the smoke should start to clear early next week so I will open up some extra spots in BAND as soon as that happens for my lessons.

My name is Connor Kouwenhoven and I’m an emerging artist based in Chilliwack, British Columbia. I work primarily in oil and latex acrylic paints, currently scaling from small canvas work, to large exterior surfaces.
