The frost came… but we still have flowers. 🌸

And honestly, I wasn't expecting this.

After our first frost on Saturday, I thought we'd be pretty much done for the season. But the flowers in greenhouse #3 were safely tucked inside — and they are still absolutely gorgeous.

So, we're making the most of them.

For Thanksgiving, I'm offering a very limited number of Thanksgiving Table Centrepieces, made with the beautiful flowers still blooming here at the farm.

You can choose between two colour palettes:

🤎 Warm & Moody
Peach, blush, burgundy, mauve & rich autumn tones.

🤍 Soft & Romantic
Cream, blush, mauve, peach & soft seasonal tones.

Each one will be unique and made with what's looking best in the greenhouse.

Tomorrow, we grow ranunculus! 🌱🌸

A couple of hours talking flowers, getting our hands a little dirty, and learning what it takes to grow these beautiful spring blooms.

I can't wait to welcome everyone to Sunwheel Flower Farm tomorrow and share what I've learned over the years growing ranunculus here.

From that funny little corm to those gorgeous flowers… there's a whole process in between, and we're going to talk about all of it!

One of the biggest things I've learned growing ranunculus?

Timing is everything!

You can have the right corms. The right soil and all the enthusiasm in the world...but if your timing is off, things might not go as planned.

Ranunculus have their own seasonal rhythm, and understanding it makes a real difference when growing them in your climate.

It's one of the things we'll talk about at my Ranunculus Growing Workshop this Saturday October 3rd, here at Sunwheel flower farm.

Because once you understand the process, everything starts to make a little more sense.

If I could go back to the first year I grew ranunculus…

There are definitely a few things I would do differently.

Not because ranunculus are difficult.

But because there are a few things about their timing and growing cycle that aren't necessarily obvious when you're starting out.

I had to learn those things through experience — and through a fair amount of trial and error.

That's actually one of the reasons I love teaching this workshop.

I can take everything I've learned over the years and put it into a few hours together at the farm.

We'll talk about the whole process:

🌱 when to start
🌱 how to prepare the corms
🌱 timing and planting - btw, timing IS everything
🌱 what happens once they're in the ground
🌱 getting from corm → roots → foliage → buds → flowers
🌱 harvesting those beautiful spring blooms

And you'll leave with 5 corms to put everything you've learned into practice.

I honestly didn't expect the spots to go that quickly, so I opened up 5 more spots.
