After going through my inventory and setting aside the tubers for my own use this year, I have made the difficult decision not to have a sale this season. My remaining tubers are just not up to my standards for sale, and I don't have the quantities I had hoped due to all the rain last season.

I wish you all a beautiful growing season this year, and I will be back to selling tubers next season.

The beginning of this year has been rough with recurring colds, covid, and slow recovery hitting every member of the family.

Last year was a difficult year in the garden, and I want to mitigate the same problems from happening again. One of which was the amount of rain we got and the flooding I had to deal with in my fields, causing me to lose several beloved varieties.

Right now, I'm focusing on starting seeds for my companion flowers and setting the intention to have a better garden than last year. Building up my beds and digging drainage trenches soon to come!

I will be going over my inventory this week to see what I have available for sale and will let you know as soon as I know my numbers.

Avoid judging yourself too harshly. You’ve made it another year, and that’s a reason to celebrate! If you need to reevaluate your goals do that now. People change, there is no shame in changing your goals.

One of my fondest childhood memories was my Grandma's potato soup. It was warm and comforting and served with love.

When I was a young adult, I tried to recreate that soup on several occasions and never got it right. The soup was bland, either too watery or too thick, and never measured up to that childhood memory.

For years, I told myself that I was no good at making soup. So, I stopped trying.

It wasn't until I was in my late 30s that I started experimenting with soup again. I had learned to build flavour and add complexities into dishes.

I never successfully recreated that potato soup from my childhood memory, but I did succeed in making something better.

Soup season is one of my favourite times of year. Butternut squash soup, white bean, sausage and kale soup, cream of mushroom, and that iconic potato soup plus so many more fill my belly, my heart, and my soul.

I wouldn't have that unless I stopped telling myself that story. It was simply untrue.

What false stories are you telling yourself? How long have you been dragging those self limiting beliefs with you?

Maybe at the time you created those stories, it was true. But people grow, learn, and change. We aquire tools, we gain mentors, we aren't that same person we were years ago.

Who could you be if you stopped telling yourself you couldn't? Step out of your own way and into who you are meant to become.

Happy Halloween, everyone! I didn't have white roses, but I thought I could spray paint some white dahlias red for the queen of hearts tonight. Off with their heads!

These are the last of the dahlias before the frost kisses them in the wee hours of the morning. Until next season my lovelies. Now to prepare for the big dig and storage for winter.
