A volunteer firefighter from Bear River is home recovering with lots of bumps and bruises and a few different fractures. She is expected to recover from her physical injuries.

She was the first responder who was hit by an SUV while doing traffic control earlier this week at an accident scene on Landsdowne Road.

The 66-year old Annapolis County woman who was driving the SUV was arrested and is facing charges of dangerous driving. RCMP say she had attempted to pass other vehicles stopped at the accident scene when hit the firefighter.

Greg Jones with the Association representing Volunteer Firefighters says unfortunately, this is a reminder that it is truly important that we remain cautious and mindful of all traffic warnings and alerts that are put in place on or around any emergency scene across our province.
