Well it begins! πŸ˜‚ I have about 400 tomatoes to pot up. I do put 2 in the paper pots if growing out for our farm.
Looks like the temps after this cold snap are improving and we will turning the heat on in the small greenhouse and shooting plants out there later next week.

We get asked all the time when I say we are planting 200 tomatoes, that does include alot of micro cherry as well. Who is going to eat all that food? Well we are of course 😊 Both our girls and their families share in the harvests as well, so we feed 3 families. And every possible thing you can think of that has tomatoes, we grow and make and preserve here at the farm. We can, dehydrate, freeze dry and freeze most of what we will consume in a whole year plus some. We absolutely depend on our harvest so I take it very seriously. And our goal one day is to have a small farm stand at the end of the drive and sell fresh produce and eggs. We grow everything chemical free and very seldom have to fertlize as we use a ton of compost.

Happy Gardening wherever you are!!!!!!

Working on transplanting curled leaf parsley this morning. We not only use it as an herb but also as basket/pot fillers. Just look how beautiful it is in geraniums.

We are so excited for the upcoming gardening season.

It's beginning to look like spring is coming here at the farm πŸ˜ƒ
Things are being sown, things are popping up and things are ready to be potted up into bigger containers.
If you haven't tried using soil blocks we highly recommend them. We start out with 1 inch blocks and sow seeds and cover with vermiculite and mist with water and put inside a plastic bag until things germinate. Then we make 2 inch blocks and transplant the 1 inch blocks into them. Just look at the root system on the peppers. Tomatoes will be the next seeds to plant.
So far we have parsley, basil, thyme, oregano, sage, rosemary, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, hot peppers, sweet peppers, celery, onions , leeks and sweet potatoes going. We are off to a great start.

We plan to add 4 more 8x4x2ft raised beds this year as well and 2 of them will be raspberries.
As well as many cattle panels for pole beans and other trailing and climbing plants. It's going to be a great growing season!

Happy Gardening!
