A lot of our customers were surprised to see our spinach packaged differently than they are used to. Bundled into piles with the roots intact. This is Korean style. Every Korean market sells spinach in this way.

The large leaves are perfect for our favourite side dish, Sigeumchi-namul 시금치나물. Keeping the roots add more sweetness and crunch to the dish.

-8oz spinach
-1 garlic clove
-1 green onion
-1 1/2 tsp soy sauce
-1 1/2 tsp toasted sesame oil
-2 tsp toasted sesame seeds

Blanch the spinach for 30 seconds - 1 minutes in boiling water. Strain and rinse in cold water so it stops cooking. Squeeze out excess water anchovy cut into bite size pieces. Mix with the rest of the ingredients. Mix by hand in a mixing bowl.

Thanks to Maangchi for the recipe!

One of the best parts of joining our CSA is the wide variety of vegetables all through the season. We don’t have every vegetable available every week. You will see that the vegetables change with the seasons. Hardy, dark green leafy vegetables are often the bookends of the season. They tolerate the cold of spring and the early frosts of the fall. More colourful crops like tomatoes, eggplant, and peppers don’t appear until the heat of the summer.

Check out what we will have throughout the season:

June to mid July
Microgreens, Salad mix, Spinach, Radish, Baby bokchoy, Hakurei turnips, Green onions, Romaine lettuce, Tokyo bekana, snap peas, beet greens ,
Herbs- cilantro, thyme, parsley, fennel

Mid July to early September
All above and carrots, beets, beans, cherry tomato, tomato, broccoli, cabbage, kale, daikon, fresh onion, zucchini, patty pan zucchini, cucumber, fresh garlic, basil

September to October
All above and eggplant, Jalapeño peppers, Winter squash, Ginger, Onion, Garlic, Leeks

Sign up for our CSA to get a taste of it all!

Hello! It’s been a while so we wanted to introduce ourselves to anyone who is new here.

We are a small vegetable farm in Antigonish county, Nova Scotia. Homi Garden Farm is owned and operated by Gyungbo Noh and Kendra MacEachern. Antigonish is home to Kendra and Gyungbo is a native of Busan, South Korea. A love of good food and nostalgia for his grandmother’s farm in South Korea got Gyungbo interested in taking up farming in Antigonish. He took part in the Martha’s New Growers Program in 2017 and 2018. After leaving this program, we went on to join our neighbours in the Lochaber Grower’s Cooperative for 2019 and 2020. After finding our own little corner of Antigonish county build a farm, we went out on our own in 2021. Our vision is to produce diverse and nutritious food using sustainable practices that will contribute to the health of local populations and ecosystems.

We grow diverse vegetables with many heritage and Asian varieties primarily for market customers. Our goal is to make real, living soil to cultivate vegetables with high nutrient content and no harmful pesticides.

Homi Garden is named for the common hand tools used in Korea called Homi. The direct translation of Homi from Korean is “little ground spear”. It has been used in Korea for 5000 years and continues to be used today. Gyungbo’s grandmother’s farm was the inspiration for this farm so it was fitting to name it after a common tool used there. We brought several homi from Korea and continue to use it daily.

We have been running a CSA for five years. We are always experimenting with new ways to run our CSA and every year has been different. This year is our most exciting year yet with the launch of an online ordering system! Check it out here:
