As some of you might know, in addition to the vineyard, we are developing four log homes on Lochaber Lake as year round short term or seasonal rentals. Construction of the first two log homes units will start in the fall and two in spring 2023. Today we are excited to announce we've acquired another property to add to our Lochaber portfolio. This one is right beside the vineyard, with great views over the lake.

After some renovations this property will be for rent starting June 26th. If you have friends or family looking for a get away on the lake they can learn more and reserve directly at www.lochaberlakelodges.com. You can also follow us at www.facebook.com/LochaberLakeLodges

This is a cozy, year round, three bedroom house overlooking picturesque Lochaber Lake in Antigonish County. Features an in-ground fresh water swimming pool, screened gazebo with propane firepit, BBQ, large front deck with great views over the lake and surrounding hills. Bring your canoes or kayaks as the house boasts lake front access with a private lake house, deck and dock. Cozy pellet stove for cool evenings and cozy winter nights. Modern stainless steel kitchen appliances as well as a washer and dryer. High Speed fibre-optic Wifi and TV service included. Nearly 1500 square feet of living space for you to enjoy!

Our test planting (starting year 3) vines are getting very close to bud break in the vineyard. The vines we planted last year are a bit further behind. We planted late breaking Reisling to minimize our risk from a late frost, so I expect we will begin leafing out in about another 1-2 weeks.

Happy Easter everyone. This year the Easter bunny brought us a tractor for the Vineyard. It turned out to be a great way to get at least one teenager out of the house to help with chores.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone. The lake is very quiet this weekend, sometimes it feels like we are the only ones here. The vineyard has certainly filled in way better than ever expected. Keeping up with the mowing has been impossible.

It is fall so in vineyards all across NS they are monitoring the sugar and PH levels of their grapes to get to the right balance that winemakers want. A delicate dance as it is a race to ripen grapes before the frost, racoons and birds at this time of the year.

As we are a new planting we don't have a harvest this year, but as part of our first experimental planting we let a few plants produce some grapes so we could check sugar levels and compare them to others. Including comparing to Rico's old planting down the road.

I'm happy to report we have a sugars at the 16% Brix level in our Riesling, compared to 12% in Rico's chardonnay and 15% in his Marechal Foch. I'm not sure our PH is where a winemaker would want it yet, but maybe a few more days and cold nights will convert the acids to sugars.

Good morning from the vineyard!!

This week we finished pruning and tying all the new vines to their stakes. While we are thankful for the rain, keeping up with mowing and weeding is a challenge!
