Nutrition is vital, especially during calving. Some important things you should consider are:
👉 Calf Health – a cow with an optimal nutrient balance will produce a stronger calf.
👉 Milk Production – proper nutrition will ensure your cows are producing adequate colostrum and maintaining milk quality.
👉 Cow Recovery – maintaining your cows body condition is important for producing a strong calf and for preparing for rebreeding.

As calving season is approaching, nutritional needs in your cattle change.

Here are some things you should consider for your herd:
👉 The increase in protein requirements – the late stages of pregnancy in your cows will require more protein and energy.
👉 The change in vitamin and mineral needs – pregnant cows have an increased need for both calcium and phosphorus.
👉 The effects of cold weather on your animals - this can sometimes result in an even higher energy requirement for your cattle.
