It’s been a little while since we’ve been able to serve you from our café & we’ve missed it and we’ve missed you.

Since the fire, so much has changed. A place that held years of memories, conversations, coffee, laughter and so many familiar faces is no longer there. But the people, the friendships, and the love that made that place special are still here. We’ve seen it in the kind messages and little gifts left on the doorstep and much more. 🌸

Now we have been lucky enough to get asked to bring a little piece of that feeling back to the table. 🤎

Come join us for a garden cafe brunch @ Sparrowgrass Field and Flower featuring your local favourite waffles made with ingredients from people and places meaningful to us.

🍎 Macintosh Apple Pie Waffle
Our very own heritage apples from our orchard, cooked into warm apple pie filling and dolloped with vanilla bean whipped cream.

🍅Balsamic Bruschetta Waffle
Fresh garden tomatoes from our garden made into a cheery red bruschetta. It comes with slivered Black Forest ham and a drizzle of balsamic reduction.

🍁 Maple Bush Waffle
Genuine maple syrup that comes straight from a dear friend’s maple bush in Ontario and salted butter.

Dear Wild Oak community,

I never thought I would ever say something like this, but in the middle of the night our sweet little cafe went up in flames.

The first thing that came to mind was the “Jesus is the Answer” on the wall and how we wouldn’t be able to see it anymore. But then I remembered you don’t have to see it to know it.
I reread it again in my mind and really let it set in that Jesus has a way through everything no matter what it is.

And then the second thing that I cried over was you. From Pat and Cam Nelson, Collin and Kellie Brown, Rea the garden lady (just to name a few) and all of you who have supported us for the past five and a half years… we may never get to serve coffee and pastries to again. Like, what?

And then our absolutely amazing staff. My goodness, it would suck to hear about this. The best at their work and the hearts they filled. I don’t know what else to say here either.

Kathleen at the Twisted Pearl, I’m so sorry that the fire spread to your building. All that beautiful yarn and the labour of love you did for the community, it doesn’t end here.

To James & Lindsay Pringle at the Great Wall, I am also sad that this affected your business but I hope you’ll be up and running again soon serving good dishes.

And then to the firefighters. You spent hours trying to save the buildings. Thank you for your bravery and work you put in the middle of the night. We appreciate you.

I have been reading many of the comments on social media and I thank you for the kind words and well wishes you have written.

And to those who have personally reached out to either Brian or I, those messages made the whole thing even sadder. The love you and everyone else have shown is just mind blowing. So thank you too from the bottom of our hearts.

We are relieved no one was hurt and that everything else is just “stuff”.

I do not believe the cafe story is done here. There are no plans but when one door closes another opens. And so we sit on that.

🌸 Constance Peony ~ the sweetest bloom to our little family. Thank you Lord, for this new chapter in our lives.

Wild Oak has always been more than a cafe. It has been a place built by community and Brian and I are grateful to share this special moment with all of you.

We want to thank you and the amazing team at the cafe for the prayers, kindness, and support you’ve shown us during this time and over the years. We are very fortunate to be surrounded by such good people.

I know Constance would like to meet all of you, so you will find us on the back patio (or the lake) this summer. 😄🫶🏽

Okanagan patio days hit different 🌸

Enjoy the fresh air, in-house baked goods, and iced teas on our back deck. We’ve already hit the longest day of the year, 🥲so it’s only a decline of summer days from here. I know, that’s gloomy, but it’s just a reminder that the time is short to enjoy the warm weather!

Congratulations Miriam! ❤️
After 5 years at Wild Oak Cafe, it’s time for her next adventure!

From busy mornings and summer rushes to countless coffees, desserts, and laughs along the way, Miriam has been a huge part of our team and our cafe family.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate her graduation and diploma in Early Childhood Education. While we’re sad to see her leave the cafe, we’re so excited for this next chapter as she begins her career in Kelowna, doing what she loves.

Thank you for your hard work, dedication, and the positive energy you brought to Wild Oak every day. You will be greatly missed, but we know you have an amazing future ahead of you.

From all of us at Wild Oak Cafe, thank you for an unforgettable 5 years. ☕️🌿💕
