Things have been so busy around here lately that I had forgotten all about our milk test!
Even during the nasty heat wave, Stockbridge Star JubeJube EX91 easily earned her *M, with 24.3 points, milking 6.4 kg.
Also receiving a *M certificate is a second freshener, Stockbridge TK Toonie VG88, milking 5.1 kg. Looking forward to our second test in a few months!

Stockbridge Nighlife Tavern EX91

March 13th 2016 - May 12th 2026

I have been putting this off, because it's still hard to accept. Everytime I walk into the barn, everytime I bring the does out to milk, I miss her every single day.
It was a complete shock to lose Tavern last month. Despite her age, she wasn't one of the old goats in the barn. She had a beautiful set of AI twins this year, and didn't look a day over 5. In fact, her dam is still going strong at 12.
I needed to know what happened, so I had the vet send away every tissue sample I could think of, but the necropsy results showed a cardiovascular event.
It turns out, that sometimes they get old on the inside, even if they don't look it on the outside.

Tavern was my first homebred LaMancha to classify Excellent, and leaves behind many EX sons, daughters, and granddaughters in herds across Western Canada. My own herd consists entirely of her offspring, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I love my Simple Pulse, but it's less ideal for does who milk over a gallon and you have to empty jars part way through...

I love my Simple Pulse, but it's less ideal for does who milk over a gallon and you have to empty jars part way through. I made the mistake of turning my back on JubeJube this morning and she overflowed the jar. I do not love cleaning out the overflow.
