In the next 10 to 15 years, 30% of the Canadian and American Farmers will either retire or die....... 265,000 and 1.8 million farmers in Canada and in the USA (currently). We either need to innovate or increase the price food so much.... that people will consider farming a career choice, again. Which path do you think we should go?

Thinking about Buying Canadian? Great!

Note: 80% of Canadian food needs is imported into Canada. And 80% of what Canadian Farmers grow, is exported..... let that sink in for a second.....
buying Canadian is ONE thing, another thing? growing ready to eat food in Canada.....not exporting our products for a higher value.... requires incentives for farmers to do so. Lets Discuss?

Who knows how long a laying chicken can lay eggs? Question 2: When is the optimal time to retire your laying chickens? Question 3: What do you do with old or older chickens?

Today, River's Edge Goat Dairy sold all 51 laying chickens for $3.50 each. About 11 or 12 were laying an egg every other day, the rest of them were not laying and haven't really been laying any eggs for about 2 weeks or so...... A kijiji advertisement had the chickens sell in less than 4 days! Listed on Wednesday, picked up and sold by Sunday 3pm.

Young Farmers Alert: Need an internship? Need experience? Have no experience and "expect" to get paid? Today, we have a labor shortage in our Western Economies and young Farmers do not grow on trees. Want to gain experience farming? What better way than to Volunteer. George is 12 years old and learning the ropes of building/crafting a split cedar fence! The same way it was performed 100+ years ago O:) Inquire if you or someone you know would like to join in the craft of building fence! :D
