In Canada there is around 260 000 farmers. Down from 272 000 only 5 years ago. In the USA, 2.1+ million down to 1.8 million now. The rate has continued to decline both in Canada and the United States. The pattern of the number of farmers in ALL of the western countries continues to decline.
Does this number alarm you? What can you do? What will 2030 bring to the World poplulation of farmers? 8 billion people now. and the World total population will be even closer to 9 billion people.
The World Bank, the United Nations the World Economic Forum all agree the number of the farmers will decrease further. Reading between the lines, reading their policies, the LINGO is also clear, fewer farmers are expected and also no plans to increase this number, rather (up for debate) the number is aiming to reduce the number of farmers in Western countries by half. WHAT?!?
Anyone reading this: Can you imagine 130,000 farmers in Canada by 2030? or 1 million farmers in the USA? Lets discuss......
