Whispering Pines Ranch Whispering Pines Ranch is a private residence located halfway between Merritt and Princeton on the 5A Hwy and is the home of Blackwater Guiding.

Good spring fishing on many of the local lakes means April-June is always busy. July-September we welcome people wishing to camp with their horses and ride the trails of the surrounding crown land. September-November we are back to fall fishing before the lakes ice over. Please visit Blackwater Guiding to inquire about fishing packages available.

Dismantling all the usable lumber from the old barn will all be worth it. It WILL be worth it. Sigh. Hours and hours of pulling nails and now we get to do hours and hours of planing to get those old boards looking cleaner to go back into the new renovated barn. Reclaimed barn boards going back into the reclaimed barn!!! Time for walls. Let’s do this!!!

Throw WAY back to 2020 when I panicked over Covid and the possible food shortage that may come. I bought turkey chicks and then ran into the problem that is my overachieving tendencies biting me in the ass.

The internet was VASTLY ENTERTAINED and our friendship with our neighbours was born. Lynne and Marty stepped in to save us from ourselves.

UPDATED FOR 2026:

We are once again accepting evacuees from any fires making it necessary to evacuate areas through the province.

Whispering Pines is 22 acres fenced and cross-fenced into multiple pastures.

We have room for RVs and campers with power and water hook up. We can accommodate horses, some cattle, some smaller livestock as well as domestic pets. If you’re in need, please know you’re welcome here.

Fly did a great job!!! She delivered a beautiful sorrel filly last night that is a perfect copy of herself. We couldn’t be more pleased to welcome this special new addition. Fly faced complications for the past three months so this was a very very welcome outcome.

Horatio’s hunting partner didn’t come home a couple of weeks ago and while we are so so sad that she’s gone, Horatio fell into a funk. When he started coming to the house to knock on the door I knew it was time to get him some new friends. It didn’t take long for him to meet them and lay down beside them for company. One of the kittens isn’t so sure about the behemoth that seems to have adopted them but Horatio is much happier.

Jail Break!!! Well Ms Filet busted out but when your Wild Card runs into a nearby pasture you close the gate and call it a win. After some convincing she was caught and put back in with her “brother”. And all was well in the kingdom
