We have been working hard getting more fencing up, it's a good thing we have the best cheerleader ever or who knows how we would ever get anything done around here 😆

Today I built our chickens a roll away nesting box using only leftover wood that I found in our barn and garage. This nesting box has a roll away feature with a slope in the boxes along with an egg collection tray built in to the front of the boxes. For this nesting box to work effectively it will need nesting pads so the eggs can easily roll into the covered box as shavings and straw tend to create friction and barriers that block eggs from rolling into the egg collection trays, but for now it will do!

Moo Moo is loving all the nice clover to graze on. She is really enjoying her new home.

Our animals have settled in beautifully, everyone has been very healthy and so happy since arriving at our new farm in Nova Scotia!
Our heifers, sheep and goats have been integrated slowly into our pasture and we are planning on integrating our emus soon as well!
Our pigs are hard at work clearing weeds and our livestock guardian dogs are still getting used to the new property so we are doing perimeter walks with them to establish boundaries before letting them work unattended.
Our chickens are set up in their "chicken palace" and will be out free ranging once again when our dogs have established their boundaries and can guard them effectively and safely.
Nick and I on the other hand are still quite sore from our long journey, it definitely seems like the animals handled the haul better than we did 😆

All of our animals are unloaded and looking healthy after their long journey across Canada!
Thank you so much Furgs Livestock for getting all of our animals to our new home safe and sound!
It definitely isn't easy moving an entire farm with emus, cows, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, guinea fowl, turkey, dogs and cats spaced out in 2 livestock trailers almost 6000km across Canada over 5 days but Furgs Livestock made it possible for us and not only that but they made sure all animals were safe, ethically transported, maintained and got proper rest times, they also gave us enough time to get there safely in our own truck and trailer and coordinated along the way to make sure we were still on track as we were moving slower than expected with the heavy load we were towing. We can't recommend them enough for anyone who is hesitating about moving their precious pets/livestock long distance, it truly shows how well they have been taken care of by their overall condition, cleanliness, stress levels and energy levels after such a long haul and we can't be more relieved to have our animals here with us safe, healthy and happy.

We are on the final stretch of driving before arriving at our farm in Nova Scotia!
We have been driving for 5 days now and we could not be more excited for our animals to finally see their new home. We will have passed through 7 provinces by the end of our journey, 70+ hours of driving, 4 different time changes, and so many beautiful sights. The hardest part is almost over, we can't wait to finally be home!

So far, so good! Our move across Canada is going better than expected and our dogs, cats, emus, sheep, goats, cows, guinea fowl, chickens, pigs, and turkey tom are all faring well with the journey so far! Knowing all the animals are doing well with the trip definitely takes a huge weight off of our chests and we could not be more excited for when we all get to our new farm in Nova Scotia.

We are on the road!

We got our emus, cows, sheep, goats, pigs and chickens loaded into a 37ft livestock trailer in less than 1.5 hrs and then finished loading our dogs, cats, guinea fowl, turkey tom, our pet pig Peaches and a few piglets into our 16 ft livestock trailer, finished cleaning and now we are all officially on the way to our stunning new farm in Nova Scotia after 6 long months of preparations!

Thank you to all of our amazing customers, followers, family, friends, and anyone who has supported us over these past 4 years!

Even though we are relocating, we are not redefining our identity. Back to Nature Acres lives wherever we plant our feet, we will be keeping our page! Stay tuned for more updates about our long journey across Canada 🇨🇦
