🚧 Highway 12 Pothole Update #3 🚧

A few days ago, I shared that highway crews were out filling potholes by hand with cold patch. Today, they were back with heavier equipment working on the major pothole just north of Highway 317.

It's good to see continued efforts being made to improve this stretch of road. Anyone who travels Highway 12 regularly knows it's been a challenging section this year, so hopefully these repairs help make the drive a little smoother and safer for everyone.

A big thank you to the crews out there working in the heat and traffic. We'll see how things hold up and keep you posted with future updates from the farm.

Have you noticed a difference yet? Let us know in the comments if you've driven through recently.

Very dark, but not much wind. I think somebody forgot to turn off the tap after yesterday's storm. 🌧️

Anyone else getting rain tonight? How much have you picked up so far?

Road Report from the Farm 🚜🌾

It's a windy one out there today. Everything is soaked, green, and growing fast after last night's weather.

In the video, you'll get a look at current conditions along the Hwy 12N in front of the farm.

So tell me — what did you see last night? Heavy rain, lightning, hail, strong winds... or did the storm miss you completely?

Did everyone survive the storm with their lawn furniture, trampolines, and trees still where they belong? 😄

Stay safe and keep an eye on the sky.

Hold on to your hats everyone!

Hundreds of frogs, lightning, and the occasional cow. Just another quiet evening in rural Manitoba.

06/10/2026

It started with dark clouds rolling in and a lively discussion about what we were seeing overhead.

According to the kids, there was definitely a dragon in the clouds. Possibly a turtle too.

A few minutes later, the tornado warning popped up on our phones.

Then came the rain... followed by my daughter's excited weather report:

"Look! It's raining ice!"

Prairie weather doesn't always follow the script, but it certainly knows how to keep things interesting.

Now I'm curious—what do you see in those clouds?

Toiling late into the wee hours of the night with our master taste tester—aka my teenage son, Nadir—we're working hard to restock one of our best-selling organic infusions for the Manitoba Night Market at Assiniboine Downs from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 7.

Long after he heads off to bed, I'll still be bottling and labeling for your guiltless pleasure tomorrow.

Can you guess which organic infusion we're making tonight?

Tell me how bad the wood ticks are this year without actually telling me how bad the wood ticks are this year...

I'll start:
"I went for a walk in the bush. The wood ticks sent a welcoming committee."

Or maybe:
"I wasn't counting ticks. The ticks were counting me."

Your turn—what's your best 'tell me how bad the wood ticks are this year without telling me how bad the wood ticks are this year' answer? 😂

Last week, I came across this small area affected by the forest fires in the Lac du Bonnet region.

To be honest, I wasn't even sure if I should make this post. Standing there, looking at the aftermath, I didn't really know what to say.

My heart, thoughts, and prayers continue to go out to everyone affected by last year's fires. We lost a couple whose lives were tragically taken as a result of the disaster. Hundreds of people were displaced and evacuated. Homes that took a lifetime to build were destroyed. Thousands of acres were burned, and even those dozens of miles away felt the impact through weeks of smoke-filled skies.

This year is a time of reflection, rebuilding, and remembering.

What stays with me most is the way our community—and so many others—came together. People opened their homes, offered lodging, donated supplies, checked on neighbours, and supported complete strangers however they could.

I'm proud to be a member of this community.

Stay safe out there. Enjoy life and enjoy one another.

And as I often say at the end of my posts: hug a loved one today if you can.

❤️

We get all sorts of visitors stopping by the roadside honey stand. 🐝🍯

If I'm home, I'm always happy to come out, offer a sample, and answer any questions. If I'm not around, feel free to ring the video doorbell.

The stand is self-serve with both cash and e-transfer options available.

This afternoon's visitor seemed interested in the honey, but I think she was hoping for a smaller jar she could carry away. 🐦😄

Would you trust this customer around your honey stand? 😄🐦
