We have some surplus plants we would like to find homes! All flowers are cut flowers unless otherwise specified, and in 6-packs, $5 per.
Must pick up in Beausejour this week. Messages will be answered in order and flowers reserved upon payment.

The first thing I noticed when I walked in the yard this morning is Grandma's rose bush in full bloom. It stood like a white cotton ball in the backyard and was impossible to miss. Only upon closer inspection did I see the magic of flowering irises and matching lupins! The first big flush of spring flowers are so special and exciting.

This week has felt like spring at full volume; healthy plants happy to get in the ground, the first crops being harvested, perennials and garlic just exploding from the earth, yo-yo weather, excitement of Mother Nature's egg hunt and discovering new nests and chicks, and enjoying the wonders of a baby's first spring. We got a LOT accomplished this week and now that the gardens are planted I can envision what this summers harvest will look like, and it is glorious!

Tomorrow we will have the Farm Stand out from 8:30-2:00pm! We have a lot of beautiful lettuce in addition to some surplus veggie and perennial plants leftover from our planting. If you're heading into Beausejour for garage sale day, stop by!

We're in the thick of the 10-14 day chaos that is spring planting, and it's hard to stop and take any meaningful pictures! No matter how much you think you're prepared beforehand, this stretch of days always turn into absolute mayhem between juggling weather, work schedules, plant needs, garden prep and kids!! It's not ideal to plant in this heat so we do what we can in the morning and are trying to beat the rain that's being called for later this week. Here's some example pics of how much we mulch around plants to help with soil health and weeds!

Trying something new for planting the vines this year! Hügelkultur (pronounced hyoo-gul-cul-ture) is a centuries-old gardening practice that involves burying logs, branches, and woody yard waste under layers of soil to create a raised planting mound. This method acts as a long-term, self-fertilizing, and self-watering system as the wood slowly decomposes.
The quality of our soil, which historically was really hard clay, and plants have really improved since we started adding mulch and organic materials to our planting methods!

Yesterday Mom and I embarked on our annual greenhouse tour. This year our goal destination was , as I knew they'd be the only place to get Statice already started (thanks to a seed shortage fiasco with little notice we were hooped for quantity and variety). We arrived just in time to get the last couple of packs of Statice, along with some other goodies! We toured all over South Eastern Manitoba, visiting old favorites and finding a new gem in Green Valley Garden Centre near Kleefield. We're grateful to share this passion together, we are a couple of very lucky Mom's!
Happy Mother's Day to all of the Mom's following our journey, we hope you can come enjoy our gardens with your Mom's this summer!
