Lazy CT Ranch Ltd Naturally raised, Grain & Grass finished, Farm Fresh Beef from our family to yours

Hey cow folks!

We’ve been a little quiet on here as we’ve been busy haying, welcoming a new family member, finishing up harvest, and weaning calves.

Now that the fall chaos has settled, we wanted to share an important update:

We will not have any beef available for 2026 (and possibly beyond).

This was not an easy decision. We’ve poured so much into raising high-quality, affordable beef and have truly been blessed with the best customers.

With the current market prices for cattle, we’ve chosen not to retain any animals for feeding this year. When we started this journey, our goal was to offer the best beef possible at a fair, accessible price. While we’re proud of our quality, we simply can’t compete with today’s market without drastically increasing prices and that’s just not something we feel good about.

So, for now, we’re pressing pause. We’ll continue raising cattle and improving our herd, and who knows maybe one day we’ll be back to offering beef again.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to all our amazing customers over the last three years. Your support has meant the world to us.

We’ve been a bit absent on here - our apologies! Spring craziness has begun and a few things got shifted to the back burner

BUT that being said we will be officially posting our first episode in our series Connecting Farm to Table - Calving Season
Check in this Friday to watch how we do things!

Side note: to those who’ve inquired on 1/4, 1/2’s & wholes please check those emails for cut sheets as steers are headed in next week!

While I impatiently await our highland cows to calve (still a month or so away) I’m enjoying hanging out with the weanlings and 2 yr olds.

These 2 heifers are sisters from 2023 & 2024, and boy their dam and sire have made them carbon copies of each other!
Silver Dun’s are not as common to come around in the highland industry, primarily we see a lot more red’s, black’s, brindle’s and even dun’s.

Something we’ve been learning (and will be learning for sometime!) is the colour combinations in highland cattle.

For now, these 2 heifers hold a more special spot in the fold as their the first daughters we’ve produced from genetics we’ve selected!

PS: don’t worry I am still working on our first episode in our series Connecting Farm to Table! We’ve been blasted with some colds and are playing a bit of catch up!

Calving season has officially began!
We had some early birds off the start, but now we have calves dropping regularly.

And with that, we will be doing a series of teaching YOU exactly where our beef comes from and how we go about putting the best quality that we can on your plates. This series will be spread out over a year or so as we cover Birth, Pasture Processing, Fall/Weaning & Finishing.

Almost every single one of our customers is after the same thing - the connection with where their food comes from.

It really is a crucial part of putting healthier, nutrient dense, whole foods into your body.

Keep an eye out for the drop of our first episode from the start of our cattle’s life - Calving Season

~ Climbing out of the Deep Freeze ~

It’s a no brainer that it’s been really really cold out.
Luckily for livestock producers, that’s where we have to shine most!

Tyler has been steadily making sure our cows have plenty of good bedding to bunker down in and out of the wind.
More importantly he’s making sure there is plenty of high quality feed in front of them. Cattle’s feed intake will actually increase by about 20% in cold weather so they can convert that feed into energy to keep them warm.
Fortunately during this cold spell, our waters have stayed thawed, equipment has ran well & no cows have decided to drop any calves early!

We are very much looking forward to the weather change tomorrow as we suspect a few early calving cows will drop their calves in the next 2 weeks.

As we approach our calving season, it’s dawned on us that we can do a “tag along” mini-episode series. This would be spread out over the year covering everything from birth to butchering. This series would allow our followers and customers a chance to see exactly what goes into growing the food on their plates!

Who would be interested in watching and learning the connection between our cattle and the beef on your plates? Let us know in the comments!

We’ve had a lot thrown at us the beginning of the year, hence why we’ve been so quiet.

BUT we figured we better give an update on our beef availability! After only 1 week of having our beef available, we SOLD OUT!
We’re absolutely shocked how fast we’ve sold out and it wouldn’t be without our incredible customers.

Currently we only have Beef Bones (packaged in approx 10 lb increments) and 2 whole briskets left! Hello homesteaders looking to make beef broth, or even dog owners wanting to give their pups the greatest dog treat!

Finally we just want to say a big thank you to all our customers! We truly couldn’t do what we do without you! We’ve said it before and we will say it again, we have the best customers!

For anyone looking for Beef Bones or are interested in a whole brisket, please reach out! Otherwise we aim to be restocked in the Spring! 🥩
