Fun fact about New Zealand. They have no native land-dwelling mammals. All mammals, from sheep and cows to stoats and possums have been introduced.
Which means there is no predator load for sheep or cattle here. No coyotes, or wolves, bobcats, or bears. No need for livestock guardian dogs.
The introduction of possums especially has been bad for native birds such as the kiwi. The goal is eradication, and an industry has developed, mixing possum fur with merino wool to make super soft and warm sweaters, hats, gloves, etc.
Also, Canada geese were introduced here in the early 1900's for sport hunting, with the exact result you would expect. They are now an invasive species and can be hunted year round.
