We just dug up some more of our wild rice plants to deliver to National Research Council in Saskatoon. Its the International Congress of Plant Biotechnology (IAPB) next week and 600 delegates from over 60 countries will be in Saskatoon. some will have the chance to tour the plant breeding labs at the U of S. This laboratory under the NRC are now studying wild rice amongst many other projects. International interest is always good, we anticipate that many or most of the delegates have never even heard of wild rice. Beaverland Wild Rice will set up a display of our wild rice products at the congress to show the delegates the rice in its seed, processed, cooked, and specialty food (puffed wild rice) states! We will meet some interesting people and we hope they find what we grow and do interesting as well! It’s exciting to be a small part of such a big initiative!
